Thanksgiving Deals: Turkeys for $5, How To Find Sales And Americans Determine Their Favorite Holiday Dishes And Drinks


Thanksgiving deals are here and turkeys are included, at least at Florida grocery store, Winn Dixie. While turkey prices are on the rise thanks to the avian bird flu outbreak, Winn Dixie is offering $5 turkeys with a store purchase of $30. The offer is good from Nov. 20 through Nov. 22 and is applicable for any size turkey.

While the offer is great for Florida residents, many outside the state would like to find great Thanksgiving deals and cheap turkeys, as well. Begin by checking for local deals on turkeys and other Thanksgiving dishes and drinks in your local stores. While stores like Wal-Mart, Target, Sam’s Club and Costco will have their own sales, you may find the best bargains and Thanksgiving deals are found in your local grocery stores. Check with your local paper, download apps for your favorite grocery stores and check their flyers for last-minute deals and savings.

As the prices for many Thanksgiving turkeys, dishes and drinks are on the rise, finding a great deal not only helps shoppers provide their own meals while staying on budget, but it can help those who’d like to donate items fit them in as well. Look for Thanksgiving deals that allow you to purchase multiple items of turkeys, stuffing, cranberry sauce, vegetables and pies, and consider gifting those to your local food bank or pantry. If you find Thanksgiving BOGO (Buy One, Get One Free) deals, keep one for yourself and gift the other. There are many savvy ways that you can take advantage of the plentiful Thanksgiving deals that are in your local stores while sharing the resources with those in need. The Winn Dixie, deal on turkeys is one per customer and excludes items such as alcohol, lottery tickets, money orders and gift cards when meeting the $30 quota.

As Americans prepare for Thanksgiving and continue to look for deals, the Harris Poll conducted a survey to determine Americans’ preferences for their favorite Thanksgiving dishes and drinks. Unsurprisingly, turkeys are the preferred main course followed by ham. Vegans and vegetarians apparently weren’t involved in the survey. When it came to the Hispanic demographic, tamales came in second behind turkeys for favorite Thanksgiving dish. Those polled in the Asian demographic preferred beef after turkey. The favorite side dish across the board was stuffing, followed by mashed potatoes/and or sweet potatoes or yams. When it came to adult beverages, many Americans said their favorite Thanksgiving drink was wine. Beer came in second.

With all these Thanksgiving deals and sales, it’s a good time to make use of your freezer or stock up on canned goods that may be used during Christmas. If you find a great deal, don’t hesitate to buy more than one item and refill your pantry. The average cost of Thanksgiving dinner for 10 is the highest it has ever been; finding deals is a great way to ensure you have plenty to offer your family and friends while keeping the cost within your budget.
