Bindi Irwin, Chandler Powell Splitting Up? One Media Outlet Questions Validity Of The Rumor

Has Bindi Irwin’s success on Dancing With the Stars taken a toll on her relationship with boyfriend Chandler Powell?

Some reports would indicate that Irwin and the professional wakeboarder are on the verge of breaking up, but at least one outlet refutes the rumors.

News first broke Monday that Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell’s relationship could be on the rocks. An article from the Daily Mail reported that Bindi’s beau has become a bit jealous and insecure as a result of Irwin’s chemistry and relationship with her DWTS partner, Derek Hough. According to the Daily Mail,

“Bindi Irwin’s teenage boyfriend Chandler Powell has reportedly grown insecure of their relationship, fearing she may leave him for Hollywood after finding fame in the U.S.… The 19-year-old is said to have become jealous of the close bond Bindi, 17, shares with her partner Derek Hough and is apparently afraid of being cast aside as his girlfriend’s star continues to rise.”

The Daily Mail seemed to glean some of their information from the Australian media outlet Woman’s Day, which reported that Chandler “says he can’t compete with guys like Derek. Poor Chandler is feeling very insecure — and there seems to be nothing Bindi can do about it.”

But according to Gossip Cop, the reports about the insecure feelings of Bindi’s boyfriend simply aren’t true.

Gossip Cop points out that Irwin posted to Instagram a birthday message for Powell just three days ago. In that message, Irwin writes that Chandler is “a person who inspires me every day. A soul who makes me smile no matter where I am in the world, despite any amount of distance.”

Gossip Cop went beyond digging through Bindi Irwin’s Instagram account, the outlet reported. In addition, Gossip Cop claims to have spoken with a source close to Irwin, who said the claim that Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell split is totally false.

Truth be told, it seems that Gossip Cop‘s report is more credible than the report from Woman’s Day, as Bindi Irwin’s working relationship with her DWTS partner Derek Hough seems to be more of a brother-sister type. In fact, Bindi even called Hough her “big brother” in an Instagram photo earlier this month.

Given their age differences, it seems unlikely that anything romantic would be happening between Irwin, 17, and Hough, 30. During every season of DWTS, the blogosphere comments on the fantastic chemistry between at least one celebrity and dance pro, though it’s rare that anything comes of that chemistry.

On Monday, Derek Hough and Bindi Irwin reached the final round of Dancing With the Stars and fans believe the couple to be a lock to win the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy.
