Jill Dillard And Jessa Seewald Send ‘Prayers To Paris’ As Duggar Family Directs People To Jessa’s Birth Announcement
Two of the Duggar daughters, Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald, took to their social media accounts to express their support of Paris following the horrifying terrorist attacks. However, the official Duggar page didn’t mention the tragedy and instead directed fans to Jessa’s birth announcement video.
Jill Dillard took to her social media accounts to express her sadness over the tragedy that unfolded in Paris this week when Islamic State terrorists attacked the city killed 129 people and leaving over 300 injured. The Duggar daughter provided two inspirational Bible quotes to go along with a Pray for Paris logo.
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the LIGHT of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12) For God so LOVED the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)”
Jill’s sister Jessa Seewald also expressed her sorrow over the events by encouraging her followers to “#prayforparis this Sunday morning.”
Though the Duggar daughters showed their support for France, Duggar parents Michelle and Jim Bob did not post about the atrocity on their social media accounts. In fact, while their daughters were posting the inspirational images, they were encouraging fans to go watch Jessa’s birth announcement video again. However, one follower noted that the wording of the post was ill-timed.
“In case we missed it?! Are you being facetious?? With what has transpired in the world in the last few days, I have no more interest in your baby announcement than I do in Tarot Readings. I used to think you were decent people, now all I see are grifters.”
Other commenters said that the Duggar parents weren’t asking for prayers for Paris because it didn’t directly impact their family.
“Amazing how the daughters finally got a clue but the parents aren’t calling for prayers. I guess because it didn’t affect their family, it doesn’t matter.”
Interestingly, the city of Paris was actually featured on the Duggar family’s former reality television series 19 Kids and Counting when newlyweds Jessa and Ben Seewald honeymooned there. The Duggar daughter was seen adding a specially engraved love lock on a Paris bridge, though it was later removed along with all the other love locks due to a safety concern, and enjoying the romance of the city. Ben Seewald seemed to enjoy the “city of love” and noted how the whole honeymoon seemed like a fairy tale.
“It just seems so unreal. We’re married, and we’re in Paris, of all places. It’s like a fairy tale or something.”
The pair also saw other sites such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral. It is unclear why the Duggar family, a family that has made their name as a conservative Christian household, would not be speaking out against the unspeakable violence. The terrorist attack left 129 people dead and over 300 injured, making it the deadliest attack on France since World War II. Therefore, it seems only fitting that the Duggars could take some time to encourage fans to pray for the victims and their families instead of promoting a previously released baby announcement video.
