Rebel Wilson On Her Real Age And The Kardashian Family

Rebel Wilson is finally revealing why she lied about her age. The 36-year-old Pitch Perfect 2 star was outed when one of her old classmates shared an old photo of her.

The anonymous classmate spoke to Woman’s Day about Rebel Wilson’s actual age. She revealed that the Australian comedian is 36, not 29 as she has previously claimed. The classmate attended Sydney’s Tara Anglican School for Girls in North Parramatta also said that Wilson’s real name is actually Melanie Elizabeth Bownds.

Rebel Wilson is now speaking out about the accusations she received over lying about her age. She graced the cover of WHO Magazine with Chris Hemsworth. During her interview with the entertainment magazine, the actress said that she was hurt when she was called out for not only lying about her age, but also about lying about her name and childhood.

“Being an actress it affects women more than men in terms of ageism and sexism so to be called out by the press on something most sensible business-minded people would have done in my position, it was a bit harmful.”

“When you’re an actor, you have what’s called a playing range; to me, it’s not really beneficial having your age written anyway.”

Rebel poked fun over her “Age-Gate” controversy back in May. She took to Twitter to poke fun at the media and fans who speculated over her real age.

Now, Rebel Wilson is making headlines for slamming the Kardashian-Jenner clan. She previously mentioned on The Kyle and Jackie O Show that she doesn’t think that the famous sisters work hard, which is why she didn’t want to present an award with Kendall and Kylie at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

“I got asked to present with Kendall and Kylie at the recent VMAs and said ‘no.’ It’s not that you hate any of them individually, but it’s just that everything they stand for is against everything I stand for. And they’re not famous for talent. I worked really hard to get where I’ve gotten to.”

Then, Rebel went on to discuss Kim Kardashian’s sudden fame. She accused the reality star for getting famous from her 2007 sex tape with ex-boyfriend Ray J. Rebel then said that she became famous because she went to acting school and worked hard to get where she is today.

Wilson is not done talking though. Oprah made her presence on that same Australian show where she credited the famous family for their hard work.

“I went there to film them as a family, and I couldn’t believe how hard they worked because we were there for seven hours, and they were gonna tape another seven hours after I left. No matter who you are, that is work.”

But Rebel does not agree with the Queen O. She took to Twitter to talk about the Kardashian-Jenner clan once again last Wednesday. She tweeted, “I’d be very happy to debate the Kardashians anywhere/anytime/any topic.”

Things took a strange turn when Rebel Wilson accused the family’s publicist of launching a “smear campaign” against the actress.

“Or maybe their publicist can just stop the smear campaign against me because I made one prompted comment about them on Australian radio?”

Now Rebel is trying to make things better by sweetening up to the Kardashian-Jenner clan.

“In any event, I’m MORE than over this little thing and wish the K clan well X even sent them flowers.”

That type of stuff usually works for Taylor Swift. Maybe the Kardashian-Jenner clan will join Wilson’s squad? Only time will tell. Neither of the Kardashian sisters nor the Jenner sisters have responded to Wilson’s recent statements about them.

Rebel Wilson’s recent controversies haven’t hurt her career, and it doesn’t look like they will continue to. Wilson just signed on to star in the third installment of the Pitch Perfect series. She will also star in Grimsby and How To Be Single, both set for release next year.
