Lamar Odom: Doctors Fear Permanent Brain Damage, Former NBA Star Unable To Recognize Friends And Family [Report]

Lamar Odom isn’t out of the woods yet, despite many reports about his miraculous recovery. According to TMZ, doctors reportedly fear the former NBA star has suffered permanent, severe brain damage due to his inability to speak fluently and recognize friends and family when they come to visit him.

Several reports have revealed that Lamar Odom has difficulty speaking and is only speaking one or two words here and there. It has also been reported that Lamar struggles to remember significant events in his life and current world events. As previously reported on the Inquisitr, determining the extent of Lamar’s brain damage would take a significant amount of time. But as time progresses, doctors are reportedly seeing “little progress” and “significant brain damage,” according to the Daily Mail. Lamar has also been visibly described as “empty.”

November 13 made one month since Lamar Odom was hospitalized after being found unconscious in a legal brothel. Over the past 30 days, Lamar has received state-of-the-art treatment but unfortunately, he hasn’t made as much progress as doctors, family members and friends may have expected.

Speculation about Lamar Odom’s brain activity follows reports about Khloe Kardashian’s interview with Ellen DeGeneres. Discussions throughout the interview, scheduled to air on Monday, November 16, opened the door to a number of shocking revelations about Lamar’s health. Even Khloe admitted that he’s fighting an uphill battle. She also detailed a number of the struggles he’s currently facing on a day-to-day basis.

“He’s really confused a lot we have to remind him. Every day is different,” Khloe said. “Sometimes he knows who the president is, and his birthday, and other times he thinks he’s 26, and I say: “I bet you wish you were 26, so do I.”

Kim Kardashian-West also echoed similar claims during a recent interview on On Air With Ryan Seacrest when she was asked about Lamar Odom. According to Life & Style, the 35-year-old reality star didn’t exactly offer specific details about his condition, but she did make it clear that the road to recovery will not be easy because Lamar is facing a number of medical complications, even admitting that there is no definitive possibility Lamar will ever be the same again.

“He’s here and he’s alive, but to say it’s not a long road and to say he’s fully better is not the truth either. He has a lot of work to do and a lot of communication therapy and having to learn to walk again and to talk again. You never know if he’ll ever be the same again.”

“Lamar is family and he’ll always be family, we’ll always do what we can to help take care of him, and protect him, and be there for him. It’s a really unfortunate, sad situation all the way around the board, and I just encourage people to keep on praying because the road is nowhere near over.”

As expected, family and friends of Lamar Odom have been extremely silent about his condition, because the truth is, no one knows what the outcome will be. But one thing is for sure; Khloe will be supporting him no matter how long it takes. Although she’s romantically involved with James Harden, she’s made it clear that she’ll always love and support Lamar and James has supported her efforts.

At this point, Lamar Odom’s future and potential quality of life going forward remains a mystery. Fans can only hope for a gradual recovery and substantial results over time.
