Rebel Wilson Accuses The Kardashians Of A Smear Campaign

Rebel Wilson is now alleging that the Kardashian clan is set out to hex her career after making disparaging remarks about their fame. According to Wilson herself, the Pitch Perfect star thinks the Kardashian’s publicist is out to get her after a recent radio show.

During a radio show guest appearance, Rebel detailed a story about how she was asked to present an award with Kendall Jenner at the MTV VMAs. Wilson refused to do it, citing that their brand and show is distasteful.

“I’m all about personality and working hard to get to where I am. How Kim Kardashian got famous from the sex tape and I just went to acting school and worked really hard…”

The comments stirred up some hysteria on the internet.

Even Oprah Winfrey defended the Kardashians during a recent radio interview. Oprah told The Kyle & Jackie O Show about her experience interviewing them.

“I interviewed the Kardashians two years ago and I couldn’t believe how hard they work. To really create a reality series that looks like something’s actually happening, it means you have to be on all the time.”

She continued, “I went to film them as a family and I couldn’t believe how hard they worked. We were there for seven hours, and they were gonna tape another seven hours after I left. No matter who you are, that is work.”

Wilson did what every publicist probably fears and decided to state on Twitter that she thinks the Kardashian-Jenner clan is out to get her by putting on a smear campaign in the media.

All of that considered, Rebel Wilson isn’t the first person to talk ill about the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Mad Men star Jon Hamm told UK’s Esquire that celebrity culture has “made ‘f***ing idiots’ like Kim and Paris Hilton into millionaires.”

Kim Kardashian, the indisputable star of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, shot back at the actor, calling his comments “careless.” That said, during an interview with the Today show, Hamm stood by his comments.

“I don’t think [my comments] were careless. I think they were accurate. It’s a part of our culture that I certainly don’t identify with, and I don’t really understand the appeal of it other than in a sort of car crash sensibility.”

Back in 2011, actor Jonah Hill also bashed the Kardashian clan. When the Huffington Post noted people being obsessed about his weight loss, Hill commented that people are also obsessed with the Kardashians. At the time, Kim’s divorce from Kris Humphries was buzzed about.

To this Hill said, “The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like ‘Mad Men’ is disgusting. [Laughs] It’s a super disgusting part of our culture, but I still find it funny to make a joke about it.”

What do you think about Rebel Wilson’s treatment after her comments on the Kardashian-Jenner clan? Do you think it’s any different than when the media reported on Jon Hamm?
