‘Star Wars’ Fans Plan To Nap During 17-Hour, 7-Movie Marathon


According to CBC News, in Edmonton, Canada, a Star Wars fan trio intend to spend 17 hours of their lives fastened to the seats of the local theater, and they’ll likely have to fight to keep their eyes open along the way. In order to keep the Force flowing strongly through them, they intend on napping through their least favorite Star Wars episodes. One can only take a wild guess as to which ones. Also, this will help prepare them for the J.J. Abrams-directed film.

The Star Wars movie marathon will play host to all the Lucasfilm movies until the very end when the next installment, Stars Wars: The Force Awakens, will make its debut at the Cineplex Odeon in South Edmunton. It will also be starting at 4:30 a.m. Time reported that the AMC Theaters franchise will be starting its marathon at 1 a.m.

The report continues with CBC news that along with Kris Padget, the founder of the My Fan Girl Life website, plans on joining her other two friends and blogging geek cohorts, Kristin Glass and Justine Kummer, in the Edmonton theater. Though it is likely that a lot of Star Wars fans will be in costume for the marathon, they will not. They will be enjoying their at-home, comfortable attire. Glass mentioned that would likely be a lot of time to endure when dressed in Star Wars-themed outfits.

“Seventeen hours is a long time to be in costume.”

Speaking of enduring for the purpose of passion for the franchise, WCPO in Cincinnati reported that Star Wars fans may have to travel “far, far away” in order to participate in the movie marathon. The viewing party venue located at AMC Newport on Levee 20 is at least around an hour’s drive from some Star Wars fans. Tickets have already sold out. The nearest location with available Star Wars marathon tickets is at the Cinemark Fayette Mall, which were available as of Wednesday morning.

Speaking of movie marathons, according to a report at Screen Crush, it was only early this year that select movies showed the 27-hour, 11-movie Marvel marathon just prior to Avengers: Age of Ultron that began on April 29 and ended April 30. The Avengers sequel was shown at 7 p.m, and it was suggested then to perhaps invest in and utilize one of those specialized donut pillows for the back side.

CNN Money reported that fans for the Marvel movie marathon brought tooth brushes, deodorant, and cell phone chargers. As the movie line-up progressed, a lot of fans were fast asleep.

So it would perhaps behoove even Star Wars fans to do the same. Packing in a pillow may also be a good idea as well for those wanting to rest up before Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Hobbit fans were subject to only a three movie marathon December of last year, so perhaps fewer amenities were utilized.

This goes to show that the passion for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has shown that the hype has really escalated. There are even solo films that filter in between the regular Star Wars movies such as Star Wars: Rogue One, which takes place at a time before Star Wars: A New Hope.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is directed by Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams. It also stars the newcomer female lead Daisy Ridley. John Boyega stars as Finn with Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie. The original cast from the franchise returning will be Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford reprising their previous roles. Don’t forget that Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew will also be returning. Adam Driver will be playing the film’s protagonist, Kylo Ren.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will open in theaters everywhere come December 18.
