Chris Martin Opens Up About Gwyneth Paltrow Split, Admits It’s Changed His Outlook

We’re not used to hearing Chris Martin or Gwyneth Paltrow talk about their relationship. In fact, during their 12-year-old marriage you rarely got to see the pair even photographed together.

But while out promoting Coldplay’s comeback single “Adventure Of A Lifetime,” Chris Martin has found himself talking about how his outlook on life has changed drastically following his “conscious uncoupling” with the Oscar-winning actress.

During his appearance on 2DayFM’s Rove and Sam, via the Daily Mail, the Coldplay front-man admitted, “I went through some big changes… everyone knows about them.”

Martin even talked about how he’d used his separation and divorce, and its aftermath, from Gwyneth Paltrow to “figure out where I’ve gone wrong in my way of looking at the world.”

The singer and musician then added, “A few years ago I was in a low place in my life and was feeling kind of down and confused. Some friends gave me a book and a poem and those two things started me off on this whole journey where I just feel so happy to be alive.”

Speaking about how this new positivity had affected his work on the upcoming new Coldplay album, and what he hopes people can sense in his music, Martin continued, “That may sound a little simple but I suddenly feel very grateful to be alive and if it’s coming across that’s great to hear.”

Since the pair separated, Chris Martin has found himself linked to a variety of actresses, including Silver Linings Playbook’s Jennifer Lawrence, while he is currently dating Peaky Blinders‘ Annabelle Wallis.

Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow recently went public with the news that she is dating Brad Falchuk, a television producer.

The lyrics for Coldplay’s new song, “Adventures Of A Lifetime,” have increased rumors that 38-year-old Chris Martin actually wrote it about his relationship with 25-year-old Jennifer Lawrence.

The Sun, via Daily Mail, has alleged that Martin did indeed write the song about how Lawrence helped the singer overcome his divorce from Paltrow.

Some of the lyrics included in the song include, “I feel my heart beating. I feel my heart underneath my skin. Oh, I can feel my heart beating. Cause you make me feel like I’m alive again.”

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin originally announced their separation with a joint statement on a blog that was entitled, “Conscious Uncoupling.” The statement read as follows.

“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.”

Talking about the new Coldplay album A Head Full Of Dreams, Chris Martin admitted that it could be the band’s final one.

Speaking to Zane Lowe, via the New Zealand Herald, Martin explained, “It’s our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it’s like the last Harry Potter book or something like that. Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something. I have to think of it as the final thing we’re doing. Otherwise we wouldn’t put everything into it.”
