‘Sister Wives’: New Episode Title Could Refer To Meri Brown’s Catfishing Scandal Or Robyn Brown’s Baby News

Sister Wives fans will finally get to find out the sex of Robyn Brown’s baby during the November 8 episode of the TLC show. The episode’s title, “A Boy or a Girl,” is an obvious reference to Robyn’s big baby news, but it could also be a nod to Meri Brown’s catfishing scandal — it also involved a gender revelation.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, a promo for this Sunday’s Sister Wives episode teases that Meri Brown will finally talk about the story that fans of the show are dying to hear her speak out about, and it’s possible that her shocking confession will overshadow Robyn’s happy news.

“So, I think I should bring something up. It’s never easy when I feel like I need to talk to the family, and when there’s something I need to bring up,” Meri says, according to the International Business Times. “They have no idea how bad it is. They don’t know what I got into…”

TLC is seemingly trying to build up a little drama by having Meri speak in such vague terms — fans will have to tune in to the show to find out exactly what she’s talking about. However, most viewers will immediately deduce that she’s referencing her bizarre catfishing scandal.

Shortly after this season of Sister Wives began airing, Meri told People that she had engaged in an emotional online affair with someone she thought was male. However, her internet lover turned out to be a woman posing as a man. Hence, the aforementioned “A Boy or a Girl” episode title can also apply to Meri’s upcoming Sister Wives storyline. It’s unclear whether TLC actually intended for the title to have this double meaning.

Sister Wives might eventually dedicate an entire episode to the catfishing scandal, but it won’t be the main focus of tomorrow night’s episode. Judging from the plot synopsis recently shared by the International Business Times, Meri’s confession and Robyn’s reveal will only get a small amount of coverage. Instead, the episode will devote most of its time covering the Browns’ adventure preparing for their Alaskan vacation. All 24 members of the polygamist family will head to the supermarket so that they can purchase provisions for their cabin. According to Kody Brown, the entire family has never gone on a shopping excursion together.

“I don’t think we’ve ever done this once!” Kody says in a sneak peek.

“This is a historic moment!”

As if the thought of shopping with 23 other people wasn’t enough to overwhelm Kody, Janelle points out that they will need enough food to make 576 meals during their eight-day stay.

Because the main focus of tomorrow night’s episode is the family’s vacation prep, Sister Wives viewers better get ready for a cliffhanger — if TLC saves Meri Brown’s confession for the end of the episode, viewers might only get to see the troubled sister wife starting to break the news about her online affair to her family.

According to All About the Tea, the woman who catfished Meri Brown claimed that their affair lasted six months, and it was going on during the filming of the current season of Sister Wives. The scam artist revealed that her last contact with Meri was on August 30.

In Touch Weekly reports that Meri’s catfish recorded romantic voicemails from the Sister Wives star, and Meri actually compares her online paramour to spiritual husband Kody Brown in one of them.

“If I were to compare you, you would win on all counts. You win on all f–king levels,” Meri says. “You want me. You say that you’re willing to fight for me, you say all these things about love and affection and passion. So yeah, if I were to compare you, you win all the time.”

Many Sister Wives viewers suspected that Meri wanted out of her polygamist marriage when she legally divorced Kody so that he could legally marry fourth spiritual wife Robyn. However, Meri insisted that she only went through with divorce so that Kody could legally adopt Robyn’s children from a previous marriage, and she claimed that she still wanted to be one of Kody’s spiritual wives. Perhaps Meri will come clean about what she’s really thinking and feeling in an upcoming Sister Wives episode.

Fans will also want to know what Kody thinks about Meri’s actions. In an old Sister Wives clip posted on Jezebel, Kody talks about how he would feel if Meri were to develop feelings for another man. The awkward conversation took place during their 20th wedding anniversary dinner.

“That’s not just something I’m comfortable with imagining,” he said. “The vulgarity of the idea of you with two husbands or another lover sickens me. It seems wrong to God and nature.”

Sister Wives airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on TLC. Do you think Meri and the rest of the Brown family would be better off if she simply decided to leave the fold?
