‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 Spoilers — Sean Bean, ‘Ned Stark’, Weighs In On The Fate Of Jon Snow

Undoubtedly, the most heated question going into Season 6 of Game of Thrones is whether or not Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is really dead. Although there have been plenty of theories circulating as to why Snow will be brought back, it still isn’t clear if the character will be resurrected in the coming season. With that in mind, fans may be disheartened to learn that Sean Bean, who played Ned Stark in the hit series, thinks that Snow is dead for good.

In fact, in his recent interview with Express, Bean shared some of his thoughts on the matter and how he doesn’t think things look good for Snow.

“It kind of didn’t look like it, I have to admit, but who knows?… Anything could happen. I guess that’s the big question. It used to be: ‘Who’s Jon Snow’s dad?’ Now it’s: ‘Is Jon Snow really dead?’ But I think he probably is. What do I know?”

Clearly, Bean’s comments really don’t offer any hard evidence in regards to the fate of Snow, but they are interesting coming from the actor who was also killed off on the show back in Season 1. That being said, his reference to Snow’s mysterious parentage is one reason why many think the Lord Commander will, indeed, be back.

At this point, some question the story that Ned is Snow’s real father. The leading theory is that Lyanna, Ned’s deceased sister, and prince Rhaegar Targaryen, himself long since departed, are Snow’s real parents. If true, this would mean that Snow has legitimate claims to multiple thrones, and also indicates that Snow may be set to play an even larger role in the series.

The fact that the show has yet to reveal the identity of Snow’s parents leaves open the possibility that the character will be back to tie up these loose ends. Additionally, given the character’s important role in the series so far, it seems unlikely that he would be met with such an early death before reaching his full potential.

However, despite all of these theories and speculations, there are a lot of people that believe Snow is dead for good, including some members of the cast. In an interview with Daily Mail, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) agreed wholeheartedly with Bean in that we have all seen the last of Snow.

“All the time people are asking me if Jon Snow is alive and the answer is no! He’s dead! I promise,” she stated in the interview.

In addition to Bean and Williams, John Bradley’s (Samwell Tarly) comments also seem to indicate that Snow is gone forever. According to Bustle, Bradley recently opened up about the final days of filming with Snow, and how everything had a certain finality to it.

“It was sad for me even though I knew what was coming,” he stated. “Jon and Sam’s last scene together and Kit and my last scene together had a certain texture to it, which [our scenes have] never had in their goodbyes before — it felt final.”

Based on the comments by Bean and company, it would seem as though Snow’s chances of a revival in Season 6 are very small. At the same time, it is also possible that they are all wrong, or purposefully misleading fans in believing that Snow is really dead.

Whatever ends up happening in regards to Snow’s fate, the truth won’t be known until April, when the new season of Game of Thrones finally premieres. Until then, fans will have plenty of time to pick sides and come up with new theories as to why Snow is alive.
