Former NBA Player Lamar Odom Will Enter Rehab After Hospitalization? ‘Chances Of Relapsing Are Pretty High’

Former NBA player Lamar Odom is reportedly headed to rehab once he leaves the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. According to a new report, Odom’s wife is determined to set him up with a facility in Los Angeles, where he can address his issues once and for all after reportedly suffering an overdose last month.

“Khloé told Lamar that he needs to check into a [drug] rehab facility as soon as doctors give him the go-ahead,” a source told Life & Style on November 5.

The magazine claimed Kardashian, along with her mother, Kris Jenner, had looked into a number of facilities in Malibu, California, for the former NBA player, including the Cliffside rehab center, where Kourtney Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend, Scott Disick, is currently receiving treatment for his own substance abuse issues.

“Lamar’s chances of relapsing are pretty high. That’s Khloé’s biggest fear,” the source explained of the former NBA player.

According to a report by Radar Online, Jenner was hoping to include the former NBA player in the upcoming 11th season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. However, Odom’s wife, and Jenner’s daughter, wasn’t happy about her mother’s decision to attempt to have him sign a contract to appear as he remained in the hospital.

“Khloe confronted Kris after she found out that her mother tried to get Lamar to sign the contract in order to be able to use the footage that has been shot for next season’s show. Kris knows that that having this be a huge part of Season 11 would be great for ratings because viewers will definitely tune in.”

Although viewers of the show are certainly curious about Odom’s condition, Khloe felt the need to put her foot down when it came to her mother’s decision to expose the former NBA player’s health battle on their family’s E! Network reality show.

“Khloe thinks that Kris is being completely irrational about this,” the source told Radar Online. “She told Kris that Lamar is not a part of the show any more and neither she, nor him, will make money off of this. But in the end, Kris knows that she is going to win this fight because she calls the shots.”

Kardashian married the former NBA player in September, 2009, when he was starring on the Los Angeles Lakers. The couple had only known one another for 30 days, but that didn’t stop them from making the commitment, and Kardashian’s family quickly got on board with the relationship. Kardashian and the former NBA player filmed many scenes together for Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and also appeared for two seasons on their own show, Khloe & Lamar. Then, in mid-2013, rumors began swirling regarding Odom’s alleged drug use and multiple affairs. While Kardashian stuck by the former NBA player for months, and even attended couples counseling, she ultimately filed for divorce in December, 2013.

Nearly two years after Kardashian’s filing, the former NBA player was hospitalized, and due to a judge having not signed off on the finalization of their divorce, Kardashian was left in charge of all of his medical decisions until he came out of his coma days later.

While Kardashian is no longer in charge of the former NBA player’s medical choices, she has remained at his side, and continues to support Odom as he recovers. As for their divorce, Kardashian and Odom filed documents to have the proceedings thrown out, but despite reports, they are not back together.
