Nicki Minaj Faces Social Media Outrage For Making Fun Of A Person With Disability On Halloween

Nicki Minaj sure enjoyed her Halloween party this weekend but some fans were not delighted with the “Anaconda” hit maker’s video making fun of a person with disability.

The video clip, which Minaj posted on her Instagram account on Saturday, showed the pop singer dressed as a sexy fairy for Halloween. She waved her wand as if casting a spell on someone and exclaimed “walk” after which the video panned to a person on a wheelchair. The video caught Minaj and her friends laughing.

However, the video clip outraged many of her fans, believing the joke was a little insensitive to people with disability. Some of them expressed their disappointment and commented that the joke was done in poor taste.

Minaj explained what really transpired in the video – that the person she commanded to walk was her friend and that she was not actually disabled. “That’s NOT a disabled person,” the 32-year-old singer wrote. “That’s my friend in a scooter,” she added.

The video was believed to have been taken backstage during a Halloween party she hosted at 1 Oak in Las Vegas on Friday. It has been deleted, but followers of the rapper were able to save it and shared it on the web.

One of the fans of the rapper pointed out how ironic it was for Minaj to do such a joke considering she expressed her disapproval toward a photo of someone wearing a Bill Cosby costume for Halloween.

The Twitter follower with the handle name donkeyfixit criticized the rapper writing: “Who cares if the person can walk or not. She still said something ignorant.” The Twitter follower added: “Why do people blindly defend their idols stupidity? Meanwhile shes crying about a Cosby costume.”

Earlier this week, Minaj shared a Twitter photo of a man dressed as Cosby drugging the beverage of the blonde woman he is holding. While some people considered it funny, the rapper shared her thoughts on the viral photo. The singer shared and captioned the snap with: “Our generation is so desensitized.”

The photo was originally posted by DJ Clue, a music producer and a radio personality. DJ Clue captioned the hilarious photo with “This gotta stop” then added the hashtag #PillCosby, before inserting laughing emojis. The costume depicts Cosby’s alleged rape victims, who were said to be drugged and molested by the comedian.

Fans of the rapper found the costume offensive and “disgusting.” Minaj, in attempt to defend herself, explained to her fans she was not making fun of disabled people. “Lol. That’s NOT a disabled person and u know that. Are u that desperate for attention?” Minaj fired back at gossip blogger Perez Hilton. “B***h, u knew. That’s my friend in a scooter. Have a great day. I surely will.”

The talented rapper diverted the issue by sharing snaps of her fans dressed up as her for Halloween.

Despite all the controversies, she seemed to enjoy her Las Vegas Halloween party.

“A #1OfAKind Halloween with NickiMinaj!” 1 Oak shared on their Instagram account. “The fairy princess has arrived. NickiMinaj #EndedUpAt1OAK #HKGroupHalloween.”

She wore a glittery pink top that showcased her ample cleavage and paired it with a short fluffy white skirt. Minaj completed her fairy look with a crown and a fairy wand. She kept her long black hair with blonde highlights down and her makeup quite simple, choosing a light pink hue for her lips.
