Kim Kardashian Talks About Her Makeup Idol, Sleeping In Her Makeup

Kim Kardashian has made style headlines in the past because she’s admitted to sleeping in her makeup. Now, the fashion and beauty icon’s habit is cause for a new round of headlines — this time because Kardashian has taken to talking about the inspiration for her beauty faux paus.

At the inaugural InStyle Awards on Oct. 26, Kardashian introduced makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury, who was nominated for Makeup Artist of the Year. Tilbury is a noted makeup artist who works with big names such as Kate Moss, Amal Clooney and Penélope Cruz.

While introducing Tilbury, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star said that the makeup artist is the one who originally inspired Kim to wear her makeup to bed. She explains it all, from The Cut.

“Charlotte Tilbury is my hero because she has never let her husband see her without makeup on. She sleeps with her makeup on. She’s my idol. She’s inspired me when I am really lazy and I can’t do my makeup the next day, so I’ll sleep in my makeup. I know that’s probably the worst advice, but she has all the magic creams to put on the next day to make up for it.”

Despite the fact Kim knows sleeping in her makeup is a terrible idea, she continues to do it anyway, she said. Kanye West’s wife went on to say that there’s a lot more to Charlotte Tilbury than simply questionable advice. Kim Kardashian also said that her makeup idol has a great business acumen.

“I really respect how she is so business-savvy and she’s such a good person.”

That’s not all Kim said, though. She also went on to say that, if she weren’t “doing what (she’s) doing now,” she would definitely think about being a makeup artist, thanks to Tilbury’s influence.

“Charlotte is also one of the most energetic people. The person who is doing your makeup is so in your personal space, and she makes you feel like you’re her sister, but is so professional. She believes that makeup makes you feel empowered and confident, and I love that about her. Truly, if I wasn’t doing what I’m doing now, I would be a makeup artist.”

As noted by InStyle, Tilbury truly does like to make people feel as if they are family. In fact, the British makeup artist to the stars is warm and always calls everyone “darling,” according to the magazine. In addition to working with big name celebrities, Tilbury also has her own beauty line, which debuted about two years ago.

Apparently InStyle nailed Tilbury’s approach to doing the faces of people like Kim Kardashian. The go-to makeup artist told AOL that working on someone’s makeup is very personal and intimate.

“It is very intimate. You feel like you’re a sister. We have a laugh and we have fun together. That’s the best part of my job. I get to have these intimate situations. I don’t think you get closer or more intimate than a lover. You get to know people incredibly well incredibly fast. I make people the most beautiful versions of themselves.”

Though Charlotte Tilbury received her award at the InStyle event from Kim Kardashian, Tilbury didn’t attend the event with her pregnant friend. Instead, the celebrity makeup artist showed up to the event with models Alessandra Ambrosio, Olivia Culpo and Miranda Kerr.

Tilbury said that showing up to the event with some of her clients made her feel loved, according to AOL.

“All my girls came together and were there for me in such a wonderful way. They’re so kind and supportive. I felt really loved yesterday.”

Tilbury added that Kim Kardashian’s attendance meant a lot to her, as Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy is in the final stages.
