Boy George: Prince Sexual Affair Announcement Shocks Audience Members On ‘The Voice’
Boy George, singer and coach of the British version of The Voice, recently revealed that he had slept with Prince, and the announcement sent audience members into a frenzy. According to a report from the Sun, the audience responded so wildly to Boy George’s revelation that recording had to be halted. The statement was reportedly made during a recent taping of The Voice U.K.
Not too long ago, Boy George replaced Tom Jones as a judge on The Voice U.K., and it seems that the 54-year-old musician is already causing controversy thanks to his recent statements. “I slept with Prince,” the former lead singer of the Culture Club was quoted as saying. The shocking revelation came after he commented that he had participated in several ??important duets during his career, with some of the biggest soul singers in history — such as Luther Vandross and Smokey Robinson. It was there when fellow judge Paloma replied that “if we’re throwing big soul names out there, I’ve performed with Prince.”And then there was the controversial statement from George.
“Forget that, darling, I slept with Prince,” Boy George said.

Shortly after the remark, the audience went wild, and fellow judge Will.i.am thought it was brilliant and even encouraged George by high-fiving him. However, after the enthusiastic response from the audience, the English singer-songwriter withdrew what he had said, according to the Daily Mail. George backtracked and corrected himself, saying that he didn’t actually have sex with Prince, and that he just had his poster hanging on his wall. But, according to a production team source, the damage was already done and “the cat was already out of the bag.”
As mentioned above, the audience was reportedly so taken aback by George’s remark that the shooting of the show had to discontinued. However, new reports claim that another source from the show says that The Voice taping continued as normal after Boy George’s Prince story, and that the whole drama of the show coming to a halt “didn’t happen at all.”

As said in a report from Uproxx, representatives for the show have reportedly tried to silence the “Boy George slept with Prince” chatter with statements pushing that it was all just light-hearted banter, and no legitimate claims were made. A spokesperson for the reality television talent show says the whole thing’s been blown out of proportion and issued the following statement to People magazine.
“He just went, ‘Oh darling, I’ve slept with him.’ He went on to say that he had Prince posters on his wall as a kid. He was never being serious.”
The Voice U.K. began airing in March, 2012, and sitting on the judging panel alongside Boy George is Will.i.am, Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson, and singer Paloma Faith. In mid-August, it was announced that Paloma Faith and Boy George would join Wilson and Will.iam for the fifth series. Fans were not too pleased when they learned that Tom Jones would not return, and his firing had a widespread negative response from viewers.
Boy George (born George Alan O’Dowd) is known for his influential music as well as his flamboyant style, past run-ins with the law, and his controversial outbursts. He has previous convictions for imprisoning a male escort during a drug-fueled naked photo shoot at his apartment in 2007, in which he received a 15-month jail sentence.
