Duracell Just Revealed A Huge Spoiler From ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ [Video]

The lead up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been going for quite some time. With less than two months to go, it is hard to have made it to this point without getting at least a little information about what is going on int the “Galaxy Far, Far Away.” However, if the new Duracell commercial advertising Christmas 2015 is any indication, it might be a good idea to avoid television between now and December 18.

While its great to get excited about the upcoming Christmas toy season, it might be a good idea for the marketing department to discuss just exactly what a commercial is going to have in it prior to airing for all of the world to see. Considering what some of the actors in the upcoming Force Awakens had to say about the level of security, it seems completely ironic that a huge plot point might have been leaked so easily.

The Guardian sat down with Anthony Daniels, C-3PO, in September to discuss The Force Awakens. Daniels had very little good to say when it came to the secrecy that was demanded of the cast.

“I said that I’d met so-and-so. An actor who plays a … thing in the film. A character. Immediately I received a message from Disney: ‘Remove the tweet! You’re not allowed to say that!’ Honestly. It’s a kind of Kremlin attitude. Look, I know perfectly well not to tell you now what I’m giving you for a Christmas present because it would spoil the surprise. And these films are all about opening the box on Christmas Day.”

Watching the commercial from Duracell, it might behoove the makers of the copper-top battery to check their Non-Disclosure Agreement with the “House of Mouse.” In the last few seconds of the commercial alone, they dropped what could be a huge hint to the public about just who the force-sensitive person may be.

So, just what is it about this commercial from Duracell that could get the brass at Disney into a tizzy. At the :33 second mark, the boy runs out of his front door to save his sister from what are obviously First Order Stormtroopers. This possibly sets the commercial at around the time of The Force Awakens. The sister is in what looks to be the same outfit that Rey is wearing in The Force Awakens in the trailer.

From here we see the young girl start wielding her force powers to sling her captors every which way. The big question is, does this mean that Rey is the force-sensitive that everyone seems to be speculating about since the second teaser with the voice over from Luke Skywalker?

Most media that has been seen up to this point has shown Finn’s character as the only new member of the Star Wars cast to use the weapon of the Jedi. Some have thought this to be a diversionary tactic to throw the suspicion off of Rey. If the Duracell commercial is correct, this is what Lucasfilm has opted to do. Regardless, this should give podcasters across the globe one more thing to chew on as the lead up occurs to The Force Awakens.

What do you think of the Duracell commercial? Is this an obvious spoiler for The Force Awakens? Is this just a couple of kids using their imagination on Christmas morning to pit themselves against the First Order? Does any of this matter anyway? Furthermore, do spoilers make you want to watch the next Star Wars film more or less? Feel free to let us know in the comments below.
