One Direction Believes Their Final ‘On The Road Again’ Gig Will Be Emotional

One Direction is now preparing for their final “On the Road Again” gig that will take place on Saturday at the Sheffield Arena, and for the boys, the show will be an emotional one. The 1D members have decided to take a much-deserved break next year, as they have been touring relentlessly since 2010.

The boys initially auditioned as solo artists for The X Factor, but Simon Cowell opted to put them together at the show’s boot camp stage. The band wasn’t able to nab the top spot after losing to Rebecca Ferguson and Matt Cardle. Nonetheless, Simon believed in the boys, and the rest was history. Deemed as the world’s current “biggest boy band,” the One Direction effect is commonly compared with the ’60s “Beatlemania.”

While the boys are eager to take a break, Niall Horan knows that it will take some time before he gets used to life away from the limelight. After all, the crooners have performed in front of thousands of fans over the last five years of their music career. Niall reveals to ITV News that the conclusion of the “On the Road Again” tour on Saturday will be different.

“I imagine Saturday night will be emotional. We’ve done almost 1,000 shows or more over the last few years, so to think that we won’t do one for over a year will be strange, so it will be a little bit emotional.”

He also believes that the band’s hiatus will be great for him and his pals because they haven’t had the opportunity to really explore various countries.

“I think the break will be good for us. We’ve been touring and making albums every year for the last five years so it’s going to be nice to be able to do things that we’ve not been able to — like going home and seeing family and people we haven’t seen in quite a while. To do a bit of travelling, actually! We’ve been all over the world but haven’t actually got to see a lot of it.”

In the same interview, Louis Tomlinson also expressed his excitement to “have time to reflect.” For him, the break is the “most healthy and constructive thing” for the members. He also dispelled rumours that One Direction’s breaking up for good.

“We fully intend to come back. We absolutely love this. We had a little sit down before and we decided that we wanted a break. We’ve had a very intense couple of years so we’re just going to have a little bit of breathing time and spend that with our families.”

Speculations are rife as well that Louis will spend time with Briana Jungwirth, who’s carrying the Doncaster-born singer’s first child. Recently, Louis appeared as Simon Cowell’s guest judge for The X Factor’s “judges’ houses” stage.

Meanwhile, Harry Styles might want to consider becoming a Tinseltown actor during One Direction’s break. According to Metro, he once joked about becoming a real estate agent. Meanwhile, Liam Payne previously claimed that he started listing the things he’d do during the boys’ hiatus. This week, news of his breakup with Sophia Smith emerged, but both camps remain hush.

One Direction’s fifth studio album Made in the A.M. will be released on November 13. The boys’ first single from the album, “Drag Me Down,” was released in July and went straight to the UK Chart’s number one spot. Three more tracks lifted from the album were already released: “Infinity,” “Perfect,” and “Home.”
