‘Walking Dead’ Fan Killed His Friend Because He Turned Into A Zombie While Binge Watching The Show
A The Walking Dead fan thought he was beginning to “change into a zombie” after binge watching the hit series while drinking. Damon Perry allegedly beat his best friend to death with an electric guitar and a microwave.
Christopher Paquin, 23, was allegedly beaten to death by Walking Dead fan Damon Perry, also 23, after the two men had consumed a “large amount of alcohol” at a Grants, New Mexico, apartment complex.
Perry was arrested and charged with murder, according to Grants Police Department spokesman Moses Marquez. Multiple police officers were dispatched to the home of the New Mexico Walking Dead fan on Sunday. Damon was allegedly wielding a knife at two apartment complex maintenance workers, who were attempting to detain him until the police arrived, the Cibola Beacon reported.
Perry allegedly went outside of his rental unit at the low-income apartment complex and began running around wielding a knife, or scissors, or both. Terrified neighbors said they were chased by The Walking Dead fan now accused of murder.

New Mexico police investigators reportedly found Christopher Paquin’s body inside the apartment. Just moments after the police officers entered Perry’s apartment, they discovered an unresponsive male who appeared to have been beaten to death. Paquin was pronounced dead at the scene. Perry told the law enforcement officers that Paquin thought he was a zombie and attempted to bite him, so he used his hands, feet, a guitar, and even a microwave to beat his friend in self-defense.

Grants police detective Moses Marquez deemed The Walking Dead fan murder as one of the “weirdest and most gruesome” homicides he had ever experienced during his years working in law enforcement.
“It was one of the absolute worst [crime scenes] I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been with the department for 15 years,” Grants Police Department Detective Marquez added.
Damon Perry is being held on a $800,000 cash-only bond at at the Cibola County detention center, the Guardian reports. He is scheduled for a court appearance in The Walking Dead murder case on November 3. Once Perry was subdued and questioned by the Grants police, he confessed to killing Paquin and shared the “changing into a zombie” motive in the fatal beating, the Daily Beast reports.
New Mexico police investigators stated that they do not consider mental illness to be a factor in The Walking Dead binge-watching murder. The Grants homicide detectives did add that an investigation into the bizarre murder is still under way. Heavy drinking played likely played a significant role in the killing, police say. Perry’s blood alcohol level during the murder has not yet been shared publicly.
“The suspect [also] attributed it to being highly intoxicated,” Marquez said.
The New Mexico TWD fan is now reportedly no longer worried about zombies biting him. Perry has begun to show remorse for the fatal beating of his friend and for threatening and chasing his neighbors, a spokesman from the Grants Police Department told the media.
Damon Perry and Christopher Paquin were binge watching Walking Dead on Netflix just hours before the newest episode was set to air on AMC.
