Creflo Dollar: I Never Should Have Been Arrested

Creflo Dollar, a pastor at a Megachurch in Atlanta, was arrested earlier this week for assaulting his 15-year-old daughter. Dollar, who delivered his weekly sermon at World Changers Church International, assured his congregation that he never hurt his daughter and that the arrest never should have happened.

Dollar said:

“All is well in the Dollar household. I never should have been arrested. Never. A family conversation with our youngest daughter got emotional. She was not choked. She was not punched.”

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Dollar received a standing ovation during the morning service at the World Changers Church International. Dollar used about 10 minutes prior to the sermon to talk about the case.

The pastor said that the police report was exaggerated and that he never harmed his daughter.

The pastor said:

“There were not any scratches on her neck. The only thing was prior skin abrasion from eczema. Anything else is an exaggeration and sensationalism. Like all of us who are parents, there are times when discipline and training our children can become very intense. I would never approach one of my children to intentionally inflict bodily harm.”

The pastor came to the conclusion that the police report, as well as the media storm that followed, were created to distract people from his message. Dollar said:

“The devil knows that in order to discredit the message, you have to first of all discredit the messenger… When the facts of this come out, you will be appalled.”

Creflo Dollar even used scripture to defend himself. Quoting a passage from Psalms, he said:

“Malicious witnesses testify against me… The accuse me of crimes I know nothing about … May those who rejoice in my discomfort be humiliated and disgraced.”

Creflo’s congregation has already spoken out about their support for their pastor. After his arrest, several people took to Twitter to defend their pastor.
