Wait, Beyoncé Knowles Is Older Than We Thought? Matthew Knowles Fuels Speculation With Comments

Beyoncé Knowles has always insisted that she is 34-years-old. And, frankly, no-one has ever really contested that with her. Why would you? She could easily pull off being 24-years-old because of her effortless shine and perennial good looks.

But it turns out that rather than being younger than 34, Beyoncé Knowles might actually be a little bit older than we originally thought. That’s because her father, Matthew Knowles, inadvertently revealed that Beyoncé was the same age as Pink, who is 36.

Matthew Knowles, who used to work as both Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child’s manager, exacerbated this bizarre conspiracy theory during his recent interview with the New York radio show, The Breakfast Club, which is broadcast on Power 105.1

The 63-year-old insisted that Beyoncé, who it’s believed was born in September, 1981, was the “exact same age” as Pink, who was born in September, 1979. He didn’t stop there, though, because Matthew Knowles then added that Beyoncé was also the same age as Usher, who was born in October 1978.

During his appearance on the show, Matthew Knowles explained, “(Destiny’s Child) had a competitiveness, L.A. Reid had a rival girl group at the time, and I’ll bet you don’t know who the lead singer was… It was Pink! And she was the exact same age as Beyoncé.”

Knowles continued, “Then you had Usher, who was the same age, they were all 14 or 15 years old, living in Atlanta.”

Because of these comments, the internet soon lit up with rumors and speculation that Beyoncé Knowles was actually two years older that she said she was.

However, it should also be noted that it’s not uncommon for fathers to get the ages of his children’s friends incorrect. Especially when you consider that Beyoncé Knowles, Usher, and Pink only have one or two years between them.

But this isn’t the first time that there has been speculation regarding just how old Beyoncé Knowles actually is. And because of this prior mystery over the singer’s age, the internet was quick to jump on Matthew Knowles’ comments and insist that this was further evidence that Beyoncé is actually a little bit older than she says she is.

But when else has Beyoncé’s age been brought into question? Well, back in 2008, Gabrielle Union immediately sparked intrigue while out promoting Cadillac Records, the film that starred both Beyoncé and her, when she insisted that she knew Beyonce back when they “were teenagers.”

There’s just one problem: there is a nine-year-age gap between Beyoncé and Gabrielle Union.

According to the Daily Mail, Union remarked at the time, “Beyoncé and I have been friends since we were teenagers. We go to the same hairstylist now and you know how those bonds are! B is such a polite, nurturing person and a joy to work with. It’s easy to work with her because she is a good friend of mine.”

Bianna Golodryga, 37, who is a former host of Good Morning America, also previously revealed that she went to high school with Beyoncé back in Texas. While she failed to mention if they were actually in the same classes, this didn’t stop critics from citing it as further proof that Beyoncé lied about her age.

It’s been reported that Beyoncé and Matthew Knowles haven’t been quite as close since she dropped him as her manager back in 2011.

However, he insisted that he still has a good relationship with Beyoncé and his grandchild, Blue Ivy. Matthew Knowles explained, “I spent the day with Blue Ivy and Beyoncé a couple of months ago. And actually hope to see them next week or the week after and spend another ay doing Play-Doh with Blue Ivy.”
