‘Destiny’ Weekly Reset For October 13, Down For Maintenance On Tuesday

The Destiny weekly reset for October 13 is eventful this week, though not necessarily for the usual changes to the weekly strikes, bounties, and other items. Bungie is releasing the 2.0.1 update today that brings back the Tess Everis, adds new emotes that can be purchased with micro-transactions, and gives a hefty nerf to shotguns. It’s also the return of the Iron Banner, but we’ll get to that later.

The Destiny 2.0.1 update will be deployed today at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT, and the game’s servers will go offline for approximately two hours at the same time, according to a Bungie Help Twitter post. This is all to help set up Tess’ Eververse Trading Company in the tower, with all of the new emotes that are being added and the micro-transaction payment system.

The Crucible experience will be changing again this week, with a further nerfing of shotguns once the 2.0.1 update is released. Destiny players can also look forward to the return of Iron Banner today, followed by Trials of Osiris on Friday. You can check out the full details for this week’s Iron Banner here. I’ll add Trials of Osiris when it goes live on Friday.

This week’s Nightfall is “Fallen S.A.B.E.R.,” running the Taken variant. The good news is that you don’t have to worry about the Fallen Dropship during the initial Warsat defense part, and you get Arc Burn. The bad news is the Match Game modifier means you’ll need to keep Solar and Void weapons handy to bring down enemy shields.

As always, this rotation of Destiny activities will last through the following Tuesday at approximately 5 a.m. ET / 2 a.m. PT. A new set of activities will launch then.

Court of Oryx (Guide)

Tier 3: Thalnok, Fanatic of Crota

Destiny Thalnok Grimoire Card (PlayStation, Xbox)

This mini-Crota boss plays similar to the final The Dark Below Raid encounter, with a couple of twists. It will require teamwork, as well. Like Crota, the only way to kill Thalnok is to bring his shields down to force him to kneel, while a player whacks him with a sword dropped by a Knight.

Thalnok will spawn with a pair of Wizards on either side of him on the platform, along with various mobs on the ground and a Swordbearer Knight in the middle. Players should take out the Wizards first, since they help sustain Thalnok’s shield and can do serious damage to the Fireteam. Minions should be cleared out once they are down, and only then should the Swordbearer Knight be killed.

Once the Swordbearer Knight is down, one player (preferably the one with the highest Light Level) should pick up the sword, while the others shoot Thalnok with rockets to bring down his shield. The player with the sword should be able to get in two to three heavy attacks before needing to back off and repeating a second time.

Thalnok will stand back up and all of the minions will respawn, including the Wizards and Swordbearer Knight. Simply repeat the same steps until Thalnok is destroyed.
