Ray Bradbury Dead At 91

Ray Bradbury has passed away, he was 91-years-old. Bradbury rose to fame on the strength of several novels, most notably his censorship classic Fahrenheit 451.Bradbury also gained critical success for his works The Martian Chronicles and Something Wicked This Way Comes among other literary classics.

Bradbury’s death was confirmed by his grandson Danny Karapetian and his biographer Sam Weller.

In speaking of his grandfather’s passing Parapetian told i09:

If I had to make any statement, it would be how much I love and miss him, and I look forward to hearing everyone’s memories about him. He influenced so many artists, writers, teachers, scientists, and it’s always really touching and comforting to hear their stories. Your stories. His legacy lives on in his monumental body of books, film, television and theater, but more importantly, in the minds and hearts of anyone who read him, because to read him was to know him. He was the biggest kid I know.”

Unlike some writers who reach critical success of his magnitude and then exit the writing business, Bradbury’s love of creation continued right up to his death. In 1999 the famed author suffered a stroke but continued to work, dictating his stories over the phone to his daughter in Arizona who then transcribed the materials before faxing back edits.

Bradbury was not only a science fiction writer, he also worked for a short stint in television with his show “Ray Bradbury Theater” which was shown on HBO. Here’s a look at his TV work:
