It’s time to do or die as Poland faces off against the Republic of Ireland in the last day of the Euro qualifiers. Believe it or not, both teams still have a chance to move on if Germany falters against Georgia.
Group D is red-hot and still up for grabs. Anything can theoretically happen in this group, in which Germany was the clear favorite and by all estimations should be already qualified. However, Ireland changed all that when it shocked the current world champions in a 1-0 victory last Thursday.
Germany manager Joachim Low understands fans’ frustrations, as he and his players are feeling the same way, but the pressure is on and unless Germany wins or draws against Georgia, either Poland or Ireland can still qualify for the finals. Those who watch Poland vs. Republic of Ireland live stream free can expect to see the teams play to the death, and they will surely leave it all on the pitch, which will make for one of the most exciting games of the group stage so far.
According to the UEFA, Poland and Ireland have drawn all their earlier competitive matches and will meet on the last day of the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers with a pass to the finals as their ultimate reward. Currently, Group D stands with Germany, barely in the lead with 19 points, Poland and Republic of Ireland are tied with 18 points. All other teams are already out of the finals, but Georgia can play the spoiler against Germany.
Poland manager Adam Nawalka — along with the rest of the world — admitted he was extremely surprised to see Ireland beat Germany with the second half goal from Shane Long. With the three points manager Martin O’Neill’s team earned, they have at least a spot in a playoff round. Poland eliminated Scotland and remain in second place in Group D. Nawalka expressed his admiration for Ireland’s unlikely feat.
Tune in to watch Poland vs. Republic of Ireland live stream free in what promises to be a thrilling match with everything at stake. Nawalka spoke to Sky Sports about the high, competitive level seen in this group.
“But both teams represent a really high level of football and actually in this group, being a very difficult one, every result is possible.”
“The German team had maybe a bigger ball possession and had more chances, but at the end of the day it all comes down to the number of goals scored and in this aspect, the Irish team was better, which is why we know tomorrow’s game will be difficult for us.”
“But we are prepared for that and we will do our job.”
Meanwhile, Republic of Ireland is dealing with the loss of goalkeeper Shay Given, who has been ruled out of Saturday’s crucial Euro 2016 qualifier against Poland because of a knee injury. Given was carried out of the pitch on a stretcher Thursday.
Fans who watch Poland vs. Republic of Ireland live stream will see if Given’s replacement, Rob Elliot, lives up to O’Neill’s expectations. With a victory against Poland, Ireland secures a spot in the UEFA Euro 2016 finals in France.
O’Neill will have several of his men back in action Sunday in Warsaw and the manager admitted his lineup will look a little different from the one that defeated Germany in Dublin. James McClean and Glenn Whelan are available after suspensions, while Seamus Coleman and Marc Wilson are expected to return after recovering from injuries, according to BBC.
