‘Teen Mom 2’ Leah Messer: What Is She Hiding By Proclaiming ‘Monkey’? Dr. Drew Claims There Are Topics She Won’t Discuss

Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer insists she has no drug problem, so what is she hiding?

During a sneak peek at Wednesday’s episode of the second half of the Teen Mom 2 Season 6 reunion, shared by Radar Online on October 5, Messer is seen proclaiming “monkey” after her ex-husband, Corey Simms, claims he’d never see his kids if he’d done the things she has.

“If I had f—ing done what she done, I wouldn’t see my kids!” Simms shouts. “If I would have done…”

“Monkey!” Messer says, immediately silencing her ex-husband, who is then informed “monkey” is Messer’s “safe word.”

Someone in the audience was first to yell the safe word, as heard in the Teen Mom 2 sneak peek, and Dr. Drew Pinsky, the host of the Teen Mom 2 Season 6 reunion, explains Messer communicated her boundaries with producers prior to filming the special.

“There’s stuff she doesn’t want to go into… She’s agreed to not go into,” Dr. Pinsky reveals.

“I’m going to start calling ‘monkey,'” Simms says in response.

Although the Teen Mom 2 Season 6 reunion special was expected to answer some previously unanswered questions throughout Season 6, the word “monkey” will likely leave fans wanting more. Throughout this year’s Teen Mom 2, there have been numerous allegations made in regard to Messer’s rumored drug use, and while she’s denied the allegations, claiming she’s struggled only with issues of anxiety and depression, she’s clearly still hiding something. Otherwise, there would be no safe word involved.

Prior to filming Season 6, Messer quit Teen Mom 2, announcing news to fans on Twitter. However, when the series debuted on MTV in June, Messer was seen, along with her ex-husband, Simms, and her then-husband Jeremy Calvert. That said, Messer, who was dealing with drug allegations, as well as infidelity claims, at the time, may have agreed to come back to the show — but only if certain things were not discussed. Either way, fans may never get the answers they are looking for unless Messer agrees to tell all about her stint in treatment.

Teen Mom 2, as well as 16 & Pregnant, are shows meant to show the true lives of these girls, so it’s a shame Messer has felt the need to keep things private, and it’s an even bigger shame she’s reportedly keeping a secret that could have possibly impacted her children. Judging by Simms’ claim about not being able to see his kids if he did what she had done, he seems to be hinting that she may have put her children in danger.

During Teen Mom 2 Season 6, Messer was under fire for her allegedly “unfit” parenting of her and Simms’ twin girls, Ali and Aleeah. In one scene, Messer was seen arriving home late on a school night, and feeding her daughters dinner just before their midnight bedtime. Messer then appeared to nearly pass out while slurring her words and holding her younger brother’s baby daughter. Her parenting has also been a hot topic for Simms, who has alleged Aleeah was forced to cook for herself as her mother slept. He also claimed she and Ali told him they often hide in the laundry room during Messer’s fights with her now-ex-husband, Calvert.

Simms and Miranda also brought up Messer’s alleged drug use on the show, claiming she’s hiding her problem, as did Calvert, who noted Messer’s issue as a “prescription pill problem.”

The Teen Mom 2 reunion airs Wednesday, October 7, at 9 p.m. on MTV.
