LMN’s ‘They Took Our Child: We Got Her Back’ Tells Dramatic Child Kidnapping And Abduction Stories Featuring Kids Who Escaped

They Took Our Child: We Got Her Back is a brand new TV series that LMN is rolling out during their fall line-up. They Took Our Child: We Got Her Back will profile the most riveting child abduction stories, detailing exactly how the children made their escape and returned home to their families.

The interviews will be told through first-person accounts with the victims, family members, and law enforcement officials. Viewers can also expect recreations of each story while the previously kidnapped child recounts how they were abducted, what life was like during the time they lived with the kidnapper, and how they finally got the courage to escape.

The new TV show will explain how the kidnapper/abductor was finally arrested and brought to justice, according to Deadline.

When possible, LMN viewers will also hear the parents’ gut-wrenching accounts of when and how they discovered the kidnapping, how the search to find their kids was conducted, and finally, how they coped with life after the abduction.

According to the Lifetime Movie Network’s website, featuring They Took Our Child: We Got Her Back, more than 1,200 children go missing in America each day. Statistics show that the majority of the children who are abducted are taken by a parent, but many others are random stranger abductions, which make the case even more difficult to solve. The first 24 hours of a child’s abduction are the most crucial hours that offer the best chance to locate them. After that 24-hour period, the chances of getting the child back decreases dramatically.

In some cases, the abductor takes the child for the sole purpose of training them as their own. Others have a more sinister and disturbing basis, such as sexually assaulting the child, selling them as a sex slave, or murdering them.

In LMN’s They Took Our Child: We Got Her Back, the true stories are emotional and dramatic — and will most likely give hope to other parents of abducted children until they find their lost loved ones. One major kidnapping case that comes to mind is the case of Steven Stayner, the 7-year-old boy from California who was abducted in the 1970s. Abductor and pedophile Kenneth Parnell kept the boy as his own until he was 14-years-old. Stayner got the courage to leave after Parnell abducted another small child. When Steven Stayner was reunited with his family, it made news headlines all over the world. Sadly, Steven Stayner died in a motorcycle accident a few years later.

Here is the official tease for They Took Our Child: We Got Her Back on LMN.

“In 2000, Midsi was abducted while walking home from school. After two days of being chained inside her kidnapper’s car, Midsi was able to free herself and courageously escaped with the help of a truck driver who she today credits for saving her life. Forthcoming episodes include the stories of Jeannette Tamayo and Elizabeth Shoaf. Elizabeth was lured by a man posing as a police officer, while Jeanette was followed into her own home and taken by her kidnapper after he severely beat her family members. Both girls eventually were able to escape – with Jeanette gaining the trust of her kidnapper and Elizabeth sending a text message to her mother after she cleverly convinced her captor to let her play games on his cell phone.”
