Demi Lovato Reveals She Hasn’t Spoken To Selena Gomez
It looks like Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez weren’t cool for the summer before they rekindled their friendship. The “Confident” singer revealed in a new interview that they don’t speak much these days. Demi and Selena were good friends during their Barney and Disney days, but it looks like they’ve grown apart. And have grown up.
Demi Lovato stripped down for a super sexy photo shoot for Complex magazine. The “Neon Lights” singer posed topless on the cover and stripped down to colorful retro lingerie for the photo shoot. Lovato also revealed a lot when it came to her friendship with her famous friends, her relationship with Wilmer Valderrama, and of course, her newfound confidence.
During her interview, Demi is asked whether or not she still speaks to her longtime best friend. She responds with a resounding, “Nope.” Then she was asked if Selena’s on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber was the one who ruined their close friendship. Demi just simply answered, “Not really, not anymore.”
“Justin’s actually a nice guy. I don’t really know him that well, but he seems to have grown up. He looks like he’s maturing. But, you know, when you’re young and you get older, you change and people change. You have things in common, and then all of a sudden, you don’t. It’s just a part of life.”
It sounds like Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez have grown apart over the years, which is a formal part of growing up, especially if you have been friends since childhood.
Fans freaked out when the famous friends known as “Delena” rekindled their friendship on social media. Demi got things rolling by following Selena on Twitter and Instagram. Selena then followed up by wishing Demi a happy birthday on Twitter. After the two interacted on social media, the entertainers decided to rekindle their friendship in person.
Two weeks ago, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez were seen taking a selfie together. Lovato wrote the caption, “Look at how #coolforthesummer we are…Friends for years, #sameoldlove” with twin emojis and hearts.
It appears that the interview happened during the summer time, since the interviewer asked about Lovato’s “Cool For the Summer” teasers on social media. Since then, the video has dropped and Lovato even performed the sexy single at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. That was also months before Lovato started following Gomez on social media, which means that they’re probably fine these days.
It’s easy to tell why Demi and Sel aren’t close these days. Selena is often seen hanging out with Taylor Swift’s squad, while Demi says that most of her friends aren’t celebrities.
“I don’t really hang out with celebrities. I’m not the type of person that’s on Instagram posting pictures of me and tons of my best friends. I have my core group, and they’re the type of people that will be there for me in the middle of the night. They’re the type of people that are like, ‘You’re being a b***h right now. Don’t talk to me that way,’ and I’m like, ‘Whoa. Sorry. I didn’t realize it.’ I don’t have anybody around me who kisses my a**.”
Although Lovato mentions that most of her friends aren’t famous, she does talk about her fast friendship with Iggy Azalea. She said that the two met at Jennifer Lopez’s party. She also talked about her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, 35, and called his That ’70s Show costars Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis her celebrity couple idols.
