Kim Zolciak Stroke Caused By Plastic Surgery?

Reality star Kim Zolciak had a very scary moment last week after flying from LA to Atlanta following a performance on Dancing with the Stars. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star suffered a mini-stroke, also known as an ischemic attack. While Kim has now been given a clean bill of health, she was hospitalized for several days following the episode and forced to quit DWTS as a result. Now, rumors are flying that the stroke could have been caused by a plastic surgery procedure.

According to a report from the Hollywood Gossip, it is not common for someone of Kim Zolciak’s age, 37, to suffer a mini-stroke, and many factors could have contributed to the health scare, including Kim’s rigorous Dancing with the Stars rehearsals, which have been known to last around eight hours a day or more.

However, Radar Online spoke with a doctor who believes a surgery, such as a plastic surgery procedure recently undergone by Kim Zolciak, could have been the culprit. Dr. Susan Evans, who has never treated Zolciak, believes that Kim’s fondness for plastic surgery may have put her at risk for cardiovascular disease.

“Sometimes one surgery alone can cause a stroke. The more surgeries, the higher likelihood. If the proper prevention for stroke didn’t take place and she doesn’t have an underlying condition such as taking birth control pills, all of those factors could make it more likely for her to stroke.”

Dr. Evans also reveals that sometimes plastic surgery procedures are riskier because doctors operate with the assumption that the patients are completely healthy.

“Some anesthesiologists tend to take less precautions for plastic surgery patients because they are generally healthy people that just want a face lift or liposuction. You can have a stroke during the surgery, or right after because not moving could cause blood clots in the legs. You would also need a hole in between the chambers of the heart for this to happen though.”

While fans have suspected that Kim Zolciak may have had a facelift, the Real Housewives star says that her altered appearance is simply the result of a new makeup routine that she has adopted.

Whatever happened to Kim to cause the stroke, it also caused her to be eliminated from Dancing with the Stars as she was not allowed to fly back to L.A. to compete in Monday night’s competition. Both Kim and her partner, Tony, have spoken out on wanting to continue in the competition. People Magazine reports that Tony wanted to persuade the show’s lawyers to let the couple come back and continue dancing on the show, but it doesn’t seem that is going to happen.

“I’m very proud of Kim. She improved every week. This was such an unfortunate thing. Listen, she was in the hospital for three days and still came in on Saturday and learned th dance in an hour and a half. We were prepared to dance, just that they hadn’t cleared her to fly yet. That’s the reason why she’s not here.”

Meanwhile, Kim Zolicak took some criticism from talk show host Wendy Williams, who suggested that Kim may have wanted off Dancing with the Stars and used her mini-stroke as her ticket to leave the show because she wasn’t earning very good scores, to which Zolciak spoke out about on her social networking sites.

“Absolutely appalling!! @wendywilliams how disgusting for you to insinuate I ‘faked’ my mini stroke on your show this morning!! You mad cause I didn’t come on your show! This clearly shows your warped mentality!!”
