George Zimmerman Shares Trayvon Martin Death Photo, Goes On Bizarre Twitter Rant Against President Obama

George Zimmerman shared a photo online of a dead Trayvon Martin, sparking outrage and drawing a seemingly disconnected response from the man acquitted of killing the teen.

Zimmerman confronted Martin on a night in February 2012, assuming that the unarmed teen was a burglar looking for homes to break into inside the gated community near Orlando, Florida. After a scuffle, Zimmerman shot and killed Martin, though was later found not guilty by a Florida jury.

But since then, George Zimmerman has been involved in a series of controversial incidents, with his strange retweet earning him plenty of criticism, the New York Daily News noted.

This weekend, George Zimmerman shared a picture of a dead Trayvon Martin that a fan had tweeted to him, which was sent with the message, “Z-Man is a one man army.”

The Trayvon Martin death photo was already part of the public record, and was evidence in Zimmerman’s 2013 trial. It showed Martin’s corpse lying on the grass of the housing complex with investigators standing over it.

The action sparked outrage, with many people calling out George Zimmerman for seemingly bragging about killing Trayvon Martin.

Many others called out Zimmerman, but he didn’t seem to be cowed by the criticism. Instead, Zimmerman grew defensive, responding angrily to his critics and posting increasingly provocative photos. Zimmerman also used the Confederate flag for the background of his Twitter image, seeming to take the side of those who wish to maintain the flag despite critics calling it a symbol of racism.

Others said it seemed to be part of a pattern of insensitive, racist, and seemingly disconnected behavior from George Zimmerman. Since his acquittal in the Trayvon Martin case, he has been in trouble with the law a number of times, including accusations from his now ex-wife that he threatened her with a gun.

Zimmerman has made a number of seemingly racist statements as well. On Monday, he tweeted a message calling President Obama a race-baiter.

George Zimmerman seems to have an obsession with criticizing President Obama on race issues. He appears to still take issue with Obama saying that Trayvon Martin would look like his son if he had one, and Zimmerman often posts about racially divisive issues, blaming Obama.

The latest came with this summer’s killing of journalists Alison Parker and Adam Ward during a live broadcast. The alleged shooter, Vester Lee Flanagan, was a black gay man who was reportedly angry at his treatment while working at the news station with the slain pair.

Zimmerman used the killing as a chance to criticize Obama for seeming to stay out of black-on-white crime issues.

“Pansy Fester [sic] lee Flanagan, too much of a daisy to deal w/racism. Murders 2 whites. Hate crime, 100%. Racist Obama says nothing condemning,” the tweet by Zimmerman said.

Others accused George Zimmerman of homophobia, as he called the openly gay Flanagan a “pansy,” which many took as a reference to his sexual preference.

Zimmerman has also used the killing of Travyon Martin as a threat in the past.

When he was criticized on Twitter last month, Zimmerman responded, “We all know how it ended for the last moron that hit me. Give it a whirl cupcake.”

George Zimmerman ultimately deleted the retweet of the Trayvon Martin death photo.
