Kim Zolciak’s Mini-Stroke Could Have Saved Her Life

Kim Zolciak may have had the luckiest mini-stroke ever. A Saturday report from TMZ reveals that the 37-year-old reality star had an underlying heart condition that probably would not have been discovered if she hadn’t been in the hospital because of her mini-stroke.

As Inquisitr previously reported, Zolciak suffered a Trans Ischemic Attack (TIA), also known as a mini-stroke hours after her flight landed from L.A. where she performed on the first episode of Dancing With The Stars. Her husband, Kroy Biermann, rushed her to the hospital after she lost the ability to speak and was temporarily paralyzed. She later posted two pictures of herself in a hospital bed with an oxygen tube attached to her face.

“The left side of my body went completely numb and my speech was gone,” the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum wrote in the caption of one of the pictures. “I have 100% of my feeling back THANK GOD.”

After conducting some tests on Zolciak, doctors discovered the hidden heart defect and chose to operate quickly. Sources told TMZ that if left untreated the condition could have threatened her life. Zolciak did post on Instagram that she was going in for one last procedure, this may have been what she was referring to.

“Going in for one more procedure, things are looking up! don’t let the oxygen scare you its just protocol.” she wrote. “Wanted THANK all of you for the love! I feel so overwhelmed with all the texts, comments etc. I’m so grateful to have all of you!”

According to Us Weekly, Zolciak has since been released from hospital and the Kim Zolciak Twitter account confirms this.

Her status as a contestant on Dancing With The Stars remains uncertain but it’s looking less and less likely that she will be able to continue dancing this season.

Kim Zolciak is best known for her time on The Real Housewives of Atlanta where she regularly clashed with then co-star Nene Leakes and the rest of the housewives. She also has her own reality TV show on Bravo called, Don’t Be Tardy For The Party, which is also the name of the dance single she released while she was on Housewives. The first season was called “Don’t Be Tardy For The Wedding” and chronicled Zolciak and Biermann’s preparations for their nuptials. Now the show mainly follows Kim as she juggles being the mother of six kids.
