Jimmy Fallon had perhaps more fun than usual interviewing one of his latest guests on The Tonight Show, partly because he wasn’t doing the interview – or was he? Hillary Clinton appeared on the show and sat through a telephone interview with Donald Trump (aka Jimmy Fallon with a wig and a Donald Trump attitude).

This isn’t the first time that Jimmy Fallon has unleashed his Donald Trump persona. You can see Jimmy Fallon as Donald Trump interviewing the real Donald Trump in a mirror.

Hillary Clinton talked with Jimmy Fallon as Donald Trump as if the phone conversation was the real deal, even though she was sitting just a few feet away from Jimmy Fallon. When “Trump” said he should interview Clinton before she went on The Tonight Show, she responded in a good-natured manner.

Of course, the goal behind this and other interviews, such as her recent appearances on Ellen and Extra, is to give a more easy-going, spontaneous image to Hillary’s campaign. Clinton’s appearance with Jimmy Fallon set Twitter on fire with many saying she handled herself well.

Clinton really did seem to relax with Jimmy Fallon. They discussed Donald Trump (a lot!) and Clinton asked Fallon if he ever had the chance to touch Donald Trump’s hair. Jimmy Fallon said no, but Hillary allowed him to touch hers as they joked about whether or not Donald Trump’s hair is real.

Jimmy Fallon did ask some tougher questions regarding private emails sent while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State. Clinton happily discussed it, saying that it was all a misunderstanding and that at the time the emails were sent none of the information was classified. As the New York Post reported, she joked about how in actuality people would find the emails boring.

She added that her most “important” email out of the lot was about being able to get gefilte fish into Israel for Passover.

Overall, Hillary Clinton’s appearance with Jimmy Fallon showed a more fun side of the presidential candidate, one that will likely help her reputation and performance in the polls. It certainly hasn’t hurt, with the most recent CNN poll showing her gaining support, while Donald Trump is losing support. Only time will tell if Clinton will take the election, but at least she has shown she can joke around with the best of them.

In a nice aside, Clinton sent Jimmy Fallon birthday wishes on Twitter recently, with a looped video of their interview in the background.
