The live WWE Network special at Madison Square Garden takes place in just about a week, and the card has now been updated with two big changes. Not only will the event represent Brock Lesnar ‘s first time at MSG in 10 years, but the event is going to bring forth a match for the Intercontinental Title and a steel cage match as well.
As recapped by WWE.com , Kevin Owens defeated Ryback at Night of Champions and now possesses the Intercontinental Title. Owens had long been scheduled to face off with Chris Jericho at the MSG event, and now it’s going to be a title match.
Chris Jericho shockingly returned at Night of Champions and teamed with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. He showed up as a babyface, but seemed to have a slight heel turn after the match. It will be interesting to see what role he plays at MSG since Owens has been getting huge face reactions lately.
According to the official site for Madison Square Garden, another match has been changed as well. John Cena will still be facing off with Seth Rollins, but it will indeed be for the United States Title and now it’s going to be inside a steel cage.
With that, Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Title is not going to be on the line at the Garden on October 3.
There will be another title match on the card as well as the Dudley Boyz will get another crack at the WWE Tag Team Titles held by The New Day. One has to think that WWE is going to make one of these matches a Tables Match eventually, but not yet.
The live special on WWE Network has two other matches on the card already as well with one being Randy Orton taking on Sheamus yet again. Another rematch from the past couple of months is Dolph Ziggler against Rusev.
Kane, Mark Henry, Stardust , Team Bella, and “many more” are scheduled to be at Madison Square Garden too. The card is always subject to change, and it has already on a number of occasions in the past couple of months.
The Madison Square Garden live special on WWE Network is one that’s really been built up well and has a huge card. Much like Beast In The East in Tokyo, it’s bound to be a big success. The addition of the steel cage match and the Owens vs. Jericho match now for the Intercontinental Title adds even more of a big feel to it.
