Joan Collins ‘Very Shocked’ By Jackie’s Cancer: Shares Emotional Tribute Over Twitter [Video]
The passing of Jackie Collins was a shock to everyone – including her sister Joan. According to Entertainment Tonight, Joan didn’t know the devastating news that her sister was sick until two weeks before Jackie died. Joan took to Twitter to pay tribute to her departed sister, sharing a sweet photo and memory with the world.
Jackie Collins died this week after a six-year battle with stage four breast cancer, a condition that she kept secret from even her closest family members. The best-selling author was 77 years old.
Joan paid tribute to her sister, sharing photo of the two sisters as smiling toddler girls. “Farewell to my beautiful brave baby sister,” Collins captioned the adorable throwback photo. “I will love you and miss you forever. Rest in peace.”

The Daily Mail reports that Jackie, in a magazine interview with People earlier this month, only revealed recently how sick she was to a “very shocked” Joan. Collins revealed that the pair met for lunch at a London restaurant. Jackie confessed that Joan “had no idea. But she was great. We were emotional,” Jackie told People.
Collins expressed that she did not tell Joan about her illness because she didn’t want to overburden her older sister, and “I just felt [Joan] didn’t need it in her life. She’s very positive and very social but I’m not sure how strong she is, so I didn’t want to burden her with it.”

Joan confessed that she is “completely devastated” at the loss of her “best friend,” reports the Daily Mail. In a second recent tribute to Jackie, just days before her passing, Joan retweeted a photo shared by a fan, who wrote “[y]ou could search the whole planet and not find two sister[s] who are as beautiful as @Joancollinsdbe and @jackiejcollins.”
Joan and the rest of the Collins family have received condolences from famous celebrities such as Sir Roger Moore, Sandra Bullock, and Oprah, according to the Daily Mail, and Entertainment Tonight reports that Kris Jenner shared a tribute to Jackie Collins on Instagram.

Jackie Collins was a prolific author, writing a total of 32 books, all of which were on The New York Times bestsellers list. After her death, the Collins family confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight in a statement:
“It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today. She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over four decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.”
