WWE News: Backstage Update On Sting Possibly Winning The WWE Title At ‘Night Of Champions’

The WWE is creating a lot of positive controversy with Night of Champions coming this Sunday. There are four matches that have WWE fans excited about the pay-per-view. Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose will take on the Wyatt Family. Reigns and Ambrose are still looking for a third partner. After WWE Raw, Charlotte lost the Divas championship once Brie Bella interfered in the match.

They tried to play the “twin magic” card and it failed. Charlotte thought she won the belt and finally began the Divas Revolution. However, Stephanie McMahon came out and clarified the entire situation. Charlotte gets her rematch at Night of Champions, where Bella will lose the belt if she gets DQ’d, counted out, pinned or submitted.

Finally, Seth Rollins is wrestling twice. He will defend his U.S. championship against John Cena and the WWE World Heavyweight title against Sting. The first match for Cena won’t surprise anyone, as Cena might reclaim the strap. As for the WWE title bout against the Icon, nothing is guaranteed.

According to Cageside Seats and Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sting winning the WWE championship from Seth Rollins is entirely possible.

“It is at least possible that Sting wins the WWE world heavyweight championship from Seth Rollins at Night of Champions to set up another match at Hell in a Cell where they would switch the title back.”

This is going to let the WWE Universe feel that the finish is unpredictable. At first, there was no way that Sting could win the WWE title. He’s a special attraction who doesn’t need a belt. Now that the WWE fans got more time to think, Sting being victorious is a reality.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Sting addressed that same thought of winning the WWE title at Night of Champions and his purpose in WWE.

“I had my time. There’s no question about that. For a guy my age to be where I am right now is, to me, next to impossible. And yet, I’m here. It’s not about Sting, not anymore. You’re asking a straight-up question, I’ll give ya a straight-up answer. That’s it, and I am just fine with that.”

Sting is a humble man who won’t beg for a WWE title. It’s a great thought to even have Sting in the company, which he understands and respects. Will Sting win the WWE title at Night of Champions? It would make for a good match at Hell in a Cell if he does.
