Lady Gaga Delivers Chills As The Countess In New ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ Teaser [Video]

American Horror Story: Hotel will be here before long — October is just around the corner — and we will finally have all of our questions answered about what the new American Horror Story season will bring. One of the biggest curiosities of the new season is definitely Lady Gaga as the Countess. Until now, fans of American Horror Story have had to use their imaginations to conjure up a taste of what Gaga’s performance will be like.

The new teaser, which E! News reports is titled “Above & Below,” features Lady Gaga in all of her creepy splendor, as she holds court as Countess Elizabeth and reigns supreme over some of the most disturbing souls American Horror Story has yet to present to its fans.

“Behold. Beware. The Countess,” warns the teaser of Lady Gaga’s compelling character.

Unlike the usual teasers for American Horror Story, this teaser does not feature the usual theme, but instead has Lady Gaga reigning to the tune of “Du Hast” by German industrial hard rock band Rammstein.

Along with the teaser, Lady Gaga was quoted by Melty as describing Countess Elizabeth as a strong and potent character.

“The Countess is a very old soul. She’s extremely strong. She’s been through so much. It’s kind of impossible for anything to penetrate her. This show in many ways is about her survival and there is an amazing journey that touches on the mythology of viruses and in what way these afflictions change our lives and bring us together and tear us apart.”

Lady Gaga’s description of her American Horror Story role seems to suggest that this season will feature some of pop culture’s favorite mythical creatures, but series creator Ryan Murphy warns to be cautious about using the word vampire. While characters in American Horror Story: Hotel may display a thirst for blood, they really are just human beings.

“I prefer the term ‘ancient blood virus,'” Murphy has said. “It’s not vampires. It’s really a form of hemophilia in a way. There’s no capes and fangs.”

No romanticized vampire stories here. Sorry, Twilight fans! It sounds like these creatures (and Lady Gaga especially) are going to be brutal, heartless, and hungry!

One has to wonder if there’s any connection between Gaga’s Countess Elizabeth and the historical leader, Countess Elizabeth Bathory. Could they even somehow be one and the same?

American Horror Story: Hotel will premiere on Wednesday, October 7, on FX.
