Amy Duggar: What Was ‘Barely Naked’ At Her Wedding?

Amy Duggar’s wedding shocked many fans of the Duggar family because it was so normal. Unlike her more conservative cousins, Amy didn’t ban alcohol and dancing from her big day, she didn’t choose a wedding dress that covered up her clavicle, and she didn’t save her first kiss with her fiancé for her wedding day.

However, there was one aspect of Amy Duggar’s wedding that was just a bit unusual. According to PEOPLE, she and her husband, Dillon King, served a “barely naked” wedding cake at their reception. This stripped-down take on the traditional wedding cake is a treat that’s become very trendy on social media sites like Pinterest and Instagram. In fact, Amy reportedly used her wedding Pinterest board to show Rick’s Bakery that she wanted the barely naked look. Lindsay Holloman, the wedding coordinator for Rick’s Bakery in Fayetteville, Arkansas, explained what a barely naked cake is.

“We call it our ‘barely naked’ cake because it has just a little bit of icing so you can actually see the cake through it.”

It’s the ideal wedding cake for those who don’t like fondant or thick, sickly-sweet layers of buttercream frosting. The flavor Amy Duggar and Dillon King chose was Rick’s Bakery’s “award-winning white cake with raspberry filling.” One of the couple’s wedding attendees shared a photo of the “country-chic” cake.

Amy also served her guests a variety of other sweet treats, including Fruity Pebbles marshmallow treats, powdered doughnut kabobs, and cake pops. It sounds like her wedding reception was a huge sugar rush.

The partially-exposed wedding cake fit in perfectly with Amy and Dillon’s rustic reception setting, a massive barn at Arkansas’ Horton Farms. While the treat was pretty revealing, it probably didn’t have Michelle Duggar yelling “Nike!” at her sons and husband — she was likely too worried about her niece’s neckline to notice the unusual cake. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Amy Duggar chose to wear a cleavage-baring wedding gown for her big day. It wasn’t exactly “barely naked,” but Amy’s bare-naked shoulders were definitely something you wouldn’t see at one of her cousin’s weddings.

However, Amy Duggar isn’t the only member of the family who dared to be different when it came to choosing a treat to serve to wedding guests. According to PEOPLE, Jessa Duggar decided not to serve any cake at all when she got married last November. Instead, she and husband Ben Seewald treated their guests to a build-your-own sundae bar that featured a variety of toppings and ice cream flavors. Jessa’s reason for serving the frozen treat was simple — she doesn’t like cake.

Do you like Amy Duggar’s stripped-down wedding cake, or do you think the idea of a cake with so little icing is as odd as the idea of Jessa Duggar donning a bikini?
