Can Jason Bourne Kick Batman’s Butt? Matt Damon Thinks So

Can Jason Bourne kick Batman’s butt? Matt Damon is willing to bet on it. Damon, who’s currently filming the fifth film in the Bourne series, spoke about best friend Ben Affleck’s Batman portrayal.

Damon took a break from shooting to show up at the Toronto Film Festival in support of his new film The Martian. When Damon walked the red carpet, talk about Batman, a role which Affleck will embody for at least seven films, came up.

When E! spoke to Damon, he said with a large grin, “Jason Bourne would kick the s**t out of Batman — absolutely!”

If we go by the Batman v Superman trailer, it looks like Batman is about to give Superman a run for his money. Damon has already put this into consideration when he spoke about Bourne and Batman going head to head.

“Batman’s gotta take on Superman first. If he could beat him then maybe he could take on Jason Bourne.”

As for whether or not he feels left out of the superhero franchises, it doesn’t sound like Damon is weeping about not being Robin to Affleck’s Batman. He told E! “I think they’re kind of out of superheroes. Ben’s going to be like the sixth or seventh Batman, so I don’t think there’s really any left. So I’m good. Jason Bourne is my superhero.”

As the Inquisitr reported, we’ve learned that Damon’s Bourne returns in a post-Snowden world. Paul Greengrass is returning to direct Matt in the franchise. Star Jeremy Renner, who starred as Aaron Cross in The Bourne Legacy, won’t be featured in the new installment. When Damon spoke to BuzzFeed about the latest Bourne film, he gave a few details away. “Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world. It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.”

Earlier, producer Frank Marshall tweeted out the first image of Damon as Bourne.

As for Batman, all jokes aside, the actor thinks Affleck will do a great job. Back in 2013, he said of the announcement, “It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the internet. I just think it’s kind of funny. You know, he’s not playing King Lear. It’s Batman! Certainly within his skill set. If anybody saw ‘Argo’ or ‘The Town,’ and all the work he’s been doing lately, it’s way more nuanced and interesting and way more difficult than Batman! Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head and whispers in a kinda gruff voice at people. Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that … But it’s safe to say I won’t be Robin.”
