Tyler Sash Autopsy ‘Revealed No Acute Trauma,’ Cause of Death ‘Pending’

Even though an autopsy was conducted on former NFL player Tyler Sash, the cause of his death is still undetermined.

Us Weekly reports that the state medical examiner’s office in Iowa confirmed the need to conduct more tests on Wednesday.

An official statement in regards to Tyler’s autopsy was published by the Des Moines Register.

“On Wednesday, September 9, 2015, the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Tyler Sash, age 27, of Oskaloosa, Iowa. The autopsy revealed no acute trauma. The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation and additional laboratory testing.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Tyler Sash was found dead in his Iowa home Tuesday by a family member. The relative was reportedly stopping by the former New York Giants safety’s home to walk his dog for him.

Tyler Sash was chosen by the New York Giants in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. The team used the 198th overall pick to allow Tyler Sash to make the transition between playing for a college and a professional football team.

Nearly two years later, the former University of Iowa student was released by the Giants. At the time of his death, Sash was a free agent.

The New York Giants shared their condolences about Sash’s passing in a statement on Tuesday shortly after the news of his death first made headlines.

“We were all deeply saddened today to hear of the passing of Tyler. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tyler’s family and friends and all the Hawkeyes he was so proud to represent.”

Quite a few people responded to the passing of Tyler Sash with statements of their own via Twitter.

The Iowa Hawkeyes also shared a memorial tribute video to Tyler Sash on the team’s official website earlier this week.
