Elderly Couple Sweet Reunion At Airport, Watch The Lovebirds In Viral Video

An elderly couple’s sweet reunion was caught on camera. He was waiting with open arms and flowers in hand, and when she finally arrived, her face said it all.

Facebook user Chris GQ Perry caught the lovely scene at Los Angeles International Airport. Without the elderly couple’s knowledge, Perry caught the entire encounter, from the time the excited grandfather stood there waiting for his wife’s arrival to the pair’s sweet reunion.

The video of the elderly couple’s reunion at the airport has gone viral for all the right reasons. Facebook users have shared the clip more than 302,000 times, and it has received over 27 million views on the social media site and 60 million views combined with other sites.

At first, the elderly couple was anonymous; however, thanks to the popularity of the viral video, we now have names and a story attached to the lovebirds. According to BuzzFeed News, the grandfather and his wife are Bakersfield, California, residents Bernard Mills and Carol Ogden-Mills.

Granddaughter Cherisa Fleming told the online publication that her grandfather is 80 years old and his wife is 75 and, get this, met on eHarmony in 2010. Both had lost their respective spouses and were looking for a second chance at love.

“My grandfather is such a sweetheart — not just on special occasions, but every day,” Fleming said. “He adores all of the women in his life, especially his wife!”

Inside Edition scored an interview with the now-famous grandfather that made headlines for waiting for his wife at the airport. He had been standing there, flowers in hand, for about an hour and couldn’t wait to see his love again, and when the elderly couple finally reunited, they just couldn’t hide the happiness at seeing each other.

“I was so excited to see her coming through that door. I was like, ‘Oh boy! I got my baby back again.'” Bernie said.

Carol had been gone for two weeks at a wedding on the East coast, when the grandfather came to pick her up from the airport. This was the first time since the elderly couple married in 2010 that they had been apart for such an extended period.

“We were both so happy,” Carol said of their reunion, and you could see that big smile on the viral video.

Showing how adorable they truly are, Bernie and Carol are shocked at their instant fame. “We started so small and got so big in such a hurry.” the grandfather said.

Carol added laughing, “When his daughter told me it went viral, I go, ‘What’s viral?'”

Perry said the video showing the elderly couple’s sweet reunion is “the epitome of love” and “showed me that this kind of love exists.”
