Selena Gomez May Hate Her Speaking Voice, But She’ll ‘Never Starve Herself’

Selena Gomez may be feeling more confident these days as she teases her new album, Revival, but she still has her moments of insecurity. The “Good For You” singer opened up about the time she hated her speaking voice. Now Selena loves that her voice made her who she is today as she dominates the pop world.

It’s hard for Selena Gomez’s fans to imagine why the actress-singer hates her speaking voice. Fans have been gushing over Gomez’s low and raspy voice in her new summer smash hit. She recently opened up on Twitter that she hated her low speaking voice as she was growing up in the spotlight.

“I was always insecure with my speaking voice because it’s so low. I never felt like it was feminine-sounding?”

Selena learned to love her voice since it made her who she is. She revealed that she’s glad to have such a distinct voice.

“I didn’t know it would be such an asset to who I am now, though. It adds a cool, personal quality. It’s exciting.”

Selena’s voice is what set her apart from her pop peers in her new single. Fans can’t imagine anyone else singing those sexy and seductive lyrics.

Gomez may feel insecure about her speaking voice, but she’ll never feel insecure about her looks. The 23-year-old faced her share of backlash for showing off a curvier figure earlier this year. Gomez has managed to avoid the nasty comments from online trolls and wants her fans to do the same. During her interview with German magazine Bravo, Gomez says that she feels much happier in her skin these days.

“The only thing I have to do is be happy with myself — and I am! I want to be able to eat a burger without someone having their say about my figure. I’m not particularly dainty by nature and don’t plan to starve myself to change that. Girls should accept themselves the way they are. And others need to be more accepting of us too — we deserve more respect!”

Selena has gotten back on track since her brief rehab stint back in January 2014, where she cited stress as the culprit. She is set on making a comeback from her on-again-off-again relationship with Justin Bieber.

“I like myself the way I am and would never starve in order to look the way others expect me to. There will always be people who criticize me, and I am a very sensitive person, but I have learnt to care less about what people think. In the past year, I’ve become far more confident and now I’m happier and more relaxed than I’ve ever been!”

Selena Gomez is on a roll. She’s been promoting her new album by planning a special “Revival Event” and scheduling interviews with magazines across the globe. Selena told German magazine Jolie that her new album is definitely inspired by hip-hop music.

“This time I’ve really let myself be inspired by rap sounds. But generally, I just want to make feel-good songs that make people want to dance.”

Gomez is ready to show the world that she’s no longer the little girl on Wizards of Waverly Place. She’s been sharing plenty of sizzling photos on Instagram. Gomez also said she’s been inspired by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. The sexy singer revealed that her new album was inspired by Aguilera’s Stripped album.

“I grew up with Britney and NSYNC and Janet and all those people. I would buy the copy, read the thank yous, and I felt like I knew them. Christina [Aguliera’s] ‘Stripped’ was one of my favorites. What I loved about ‘Revival’ is that I felt like there was a fluid story.”

Selena Gomez’s Revival album is slated for release on October 9. Are you looking forward to her new album? Share your thoughts below in the comments section.
