England face a must-win game against Australia in the third One Day International of their five-match cricket series, and fans can watch live online as the game promises to be a hotly contested one after the second ODI was marred by a controversial play that brought the bad blood between England and Australia bubbling to the surface.
After setting target of 310, Australia cruised to a 64-run victory to go up 2-0 in the series, needing just one win in the next three games to clinch the series and gain at least a measure of revenge for the 3-2 Ashes defeat England inflicted in July and August.
But after the match, discussion focused less on the score than on the bizarre dismissal of England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who was called out after a video review, when a throw from Australia’s Mitchell Starc, aimed at Stokes’ wicket, caught the 24-year-old in the glove as he twisted to avoid being hit by the ball.
Stokes later said that he was only attempting to protect himself and his motion was simply a reflex. But Australia Captain Steve Smith declared that Stokes was “blatantly out,” and the third umpire agreed, leading to an on-field argument between Smith and England Captain Eoin Morgan.

First ball in the day-night match is scheduled for 2 p.m. local time at Old Trafford in Manchester, England, or 9 a.m. for viewers in the United States Eastern Time Zone — 6 a.m. Pacific.
Even though England’s back is against the wall in the third ODI, Coach Trevor Bayliss says that the lineup for the match could include some new faces.
“We want to win every series we play in. That’s not possible,” Bayliss told The Guardian newspaper. “We’ve also got a four-year plan. To do well and hopefully win the next World Cup we’ve got to have a depth of players and reserves ready to go. If we never give some of those guys on the fringes a go, we won’t know if they’ve got the goods.”
One certain change for England — struggling wicket keeper Jos Buttler has been sidelined for the final three matches, simply for mental and physical rest. Jonny Bairstow has been added behind the stumps in his stead.
