Bill Maher Says Liberty University Is Not A Real University [Video]

Bill Maher, on his hit show “Real Time”, went after Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University on Friday night. Liberty University has become a must visit place for Republican presidential candidates. Liberty University is known for its strict adherence to the tenants of Southern Baptist Christianity banning such activities as drinking or even kissing.

Maher said of Liberty University and Mitt Romney’s recent commencement address there,

“You can’t expect me to believe anything Mitt Romney said last week at Liberty University, because a) he’s a liar and b) Liberty University isn’t really a university. It’s not like an actual statesman visited a real college. It’s more like the Tupac hologram visited Disneyland and said what he would do as president during the Main Street Electrical Parade.”

Romney visited the school on May 12 to give the commencement address. During his address he managed to touch on all the things a Republican presidential candidate is expected to say such as family values, anti-abortion and opposition to gay marriage.

Maher took real issue to Liberty University’s curriculum which teaches “Creation Science” a type of study which holds the bible is true word for word. He joked that a degree from Liberty should be forced to have a asterisk on the degree which says “This school teaches superstitious nonsense, hire at your own risk”

Maher finished by saying,

“Liberty’s diploma may look real but when you confuse a church with a school it mixes up the things you believe — religion — with the things we know — education. Then you start thinking that creationism is science, and gay aversion is psychology, and praying away hurricanes is meteorology.”
