Did Damon Wayans Just Defend ‘Rapist’ Bill Cosby Or Is It More Wayans Comedy?

Daman Wayans Sr. recently stated that many of Bill Cosby accusers were “un-rapeable,” purely based on physical appearance. In a recent interview with Power 105.1 The Breakfast Club, Wayans crudely asserted that many of Bill Cosby’s accusers also have unbelievable stories. In his usual joking fashion, Damon shows actual concern on the amount of times some women claim to have been raped and still waited over 40 years to report it.

“Yeah but if you listen to them talk they go, ‘well the first time,’ b—-, how many times did it happen? And some of them, really, is un-rapeable. I look at them and go, ‘no, he don’t want that. Get outta here.”

Going even more off the rails with his Cosby defense, Wayans accounts for what he would do in Bill Cosby’s shoes, which is apparently to openly admit to having multiple “relationships,” but Damon has no belief that the women were raped, and in the interview, never refers to any of them as victims.

“Tell the truth. If I was him, I would divorce my wife, give her all my money and then I would go to a deposition. I’d light one of them three-hour cigars, I’d have me some wine and maybe a Quaalude and I would just go off. Because I don’t believe that he was raping, I think he was in relationships with all of them. And then he’s like, ‘You know what, it’s 78. It don’t work no more. I can’t get it up for any of y’all. Bye b—–s. And now they’re like, ‘oh really? rape’ because I mean, 40 years-listen, how big is his penis that it give you amnesia for 40 years?”

Damon Wayans goes on to basically insinuate that Bill Cosby’s accusers were groupies who likely threw themselves as Bill because he was famous. Wayans testifies that this is a usual occurrence in the celebrity world and that Bill Cosby basically had no reason to rape anyone, but how true is that?

Based on the allegations against Bill Cosby, many women did not wait 40 years, but actually reported their assaults almost right away. These women testify that no one believed their story. With this information, it may be stated that Damon Wayans was only joking in his defense of Bill Cosby. However, a look at Damon Wayans normal sense of humor could suggest that sensitivity is not one of his strongest attributes. Just months prior to the Breakfast Club interview, Damon told Esquire his favorite joke which turned out to be your run of the mill fat joke.

Taking Damon Wayans’ history of insensitive jokes into account, there is a strong possibility that he meant no harm when defending Bill Cosby. However, taking the comments made about Cosby’s “victims,” it can still be said that he had every intention of uplifting Cosby and downing the women. There’s really no way to be sure, and thus far, Wayans has not seen fit to explain himself.
