Jimmy Fallon’s late-night talk show, besides being an amusing and engaging end-of-day indulgence for audiences, is also a vehicle for stars to promote their latest movies. Sometimes, however, the show can also become a cornerstone for ensuing internet frenzy and rumors. This was the case when X-Men star Liev Schreiber appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this past week.
We all know that Victor Creed/Sabretooth is one of fans’ favorite characters from X-Men: Origins, so when Jimmy Fallon raised the possibility of the character returning in Wolverine 3, Liev Schreiber confessed that he has himself heard some rumors about the probable storyline for the third installment. However, in a tongue-and-cheek admission, Schreiber also said that he does not know if he will be invited to play the role.
“I don’t know if I’m invited, but what I heard was that the storyline is Old Man Logan. And when I heard that, I thought, ‘Well, you know… there’s Old Man Logan, there could be Old Man Sabretooth.’”

Well, wouldn’t that be nice — a grumpy old Sabretooth frolicking about with Old Man Logan? Or perhaps they will be walking around with crutches. Jimmy Fallon would perhaps even want to invite the pair on his show.
For those of you who don’t know, Liev Schreiber played the bloodthirsty villain in X-Men: Origins, and has since been hailed as one of the best villains to have graced Marvel’s cinematic universe.
According to ScreenRant, credible rumors about the third installment of Wolverine being based on the Old Man Logan comic story have being doing the rounds of the internet way before Liev Schreiber appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s show. In fact, the rumors began circulating when Hugh Jackman teased his fans about the possibility at San Diego Comic-Con 2015. A few days later, Jackman took to Twitter to ask his fans who would they want him to face in Wolverine‘s next installment. The most common answer? Sabretooth, of course.
My last time putting on the claws. What do you want to see happen? 50 words or less. I’ll read as many as I can. pic.twitter.com/ksA1Gii5tf

So it was no surprise that when Liev Schreiber admitted to being open to the idea of playing Old Man Sabretooth on Jimmy Fallon’s show, the internet went into overdrive. If there is one actor fans would want to see return beside Hugh Jackman, it is definitely Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth. According to Cinema Blend, it remains a possibility.
“The Old Man Logan story features a post-apocalyptic future of sorts in which Logan is, obviously, an older man and the last remaining X-Man. An appearance from Sabretooth wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities for this story, especially since superhero movie makers tend to take liberties with the source materials. Though, we’ll have to hang tight as the cast firms up.”
