Having recently returned from a broken nose, WWE superstar John Cena may have caught the injury bug once again. The 15-time World Heavyweight champion appeared to have injured either his nose or neck during his match with Kevin Owens at a live event in Hampton, Virginia, according to Wrestling Inc.
Cena reportedly went down with an injury during his street fight, and the match was temporarily stopped as officials threw up the “X” symbol, signifying that a competitor is hurt and requires medical attention. The correspondent, Sherrod Jones, notes that it appeared Cena was having difficulties with either his neck or nose.
“It appeared Cena was having an issue with his nose or neck, likely the nose that was recently busted by Seth Rollins. WWE trainers came down to check on Cena but he wrestled for another 6 minutes or so, and even went through a table, to win the match. A handful of WWE officials also came out with the trainers and they checked on Cena’s nose and neck area for around 5 minutes.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Cena suffered a gruesome broken nose at the hands of current WWE and United States champion Seth Rollins. During a match on Monday Night RAW, Rollins hit Cena with a knee in the face, causing the leader of the Cenation to have nose smeared to a different part of his face. The injury caused Cena to miss several weeks of action and undergo surgery. But he did return at SummerSlam to face Rollins in a title-for-title match.
Jones also adds that it’s unclear whether or not Cena suffered a legitimate injury or was selling the fact that his nose is still fragile.
“It wasn’t clear if Cena suffered a legitimate injury but he really seemed to be hurting after the match as he went straight towards the backstage area, stopping to point back at the crowd. We’ve reached out to WWE for comment and will keep you updated with any information that becomes available but it could have been an angle to play off the recent nose injury.”
Additional reports from Wrestling Inc state that Cena was allegedly injured while attempting to hit the Code Red move on Owens. Since then, a fan on Twitter has posted a video which depicts Cena suffering his alleged injury.
