Singer Steve Grand Accepts Gay Marine’s Invite To Marine Corps Ball

Steve Grand has accepted an invitation from a marine to attend the Marine Corps Ball.

Just two days ago, gay Marine Tanner White took to YouTube to invite the singer to the soiree.

Based in Jacksonville, North Carolina, White, 23, admitted that he was on the look out for a rather special date for the event.

“This video is for the all-American boy Steve Grand. Steve, you’re an amazing singer, I’ve seen some of your blog videos, and they were awesome.

“I would like for you to go with me to the 2015 Marine Corps Ball in November hosted in Wilmington, North Carolina, as my date. Hopefully you’ll say, ‘Yes’. If not, then it was worth a shot.

“So, please help me get this video out. And hopefully I’ll be going to the ball with Steve Grand this year.”

And clearly a lot of people wanted to try and help Tanner White out his request, because the video has since been watched over 60,000 times, and people were willing for Grand to learn about the request and then accept.

On Thursday, Steve Grand revealed that not only had he seen the video but he also accepted the request too, taking to YouTube to upload his own video. The clip, which is entitled, “Sgt. White, I accept!,” features Grand’s acceptance.

“Hello, Sgt. White. Steve Grand here. I want to say that I am honored to accept your invitation to be your date at the Marine Corps Ball this November.

“Thank you so much for your service to this country, and I look forward to a really fun evening with you in November. See you soon, buddy.”

Steve Grand captioned his video with, “Can’t wait for the Marine Ball 2015! Thank you for your service!” You can watch it in its entirety below:

Speaking to Buzz Feed about his decision to go to the ball, Grand admitted that he didn’t have to think too hard about it.

“I was really honored that someone in our military wanted to go to that ball with me and asked me like that,” the singer explained. “As soon as I saw the video I checked my calendar and when I saw that day was free I, was like, ‘OK, let’s can do this’.”

Tanner White, who is HIV positive and runs a YouTube channel that looks to refute stereotypes about the disease, himself admitted to BuzzFeed that he wanted to go with Grand because he both loves his music and thinks that “he is extremely hot.”
