WWE News: Alberto Del Rio And Rey Mysterio Open To Potential WWE Returns?

Is the WWE stale? That will always be an opinion of certain fans of the WWE Universe. Reasons can include the WWE stars on television, the wrestling matches being put on, and the storylines that are poorly utilized. Despite the internet wrestling community and their quest to put shame to the WWE, facts remain as to why it’s still succeeding.

The cast the WWE assembled from WWE NXT to the main roster is arguably the most-talented in history. In NXT, they retrieved Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Tyler Breeze, Blake, Murphy, Bayley, Dana Brooke, Emma, Baron Corbin, and Rhyno. As for the main roster, Seth Rollins, Cesaro, Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan, Neville, Brock Lesnar, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch are just the notables.

To make matters even more interesting, two-WWE legends are open to a return, according to Ringside News and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

“In regards to Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio returning to WWE in the future, the mentality right now is they aren’t looking to come back to the company. They would however consider it if a reduced scheduled was put on the table because they are doing very well right now working whenever they want to.”

The report also notes that Vince McMahon was always a big fan of Del Rio. Even though his big push fell flat after his feud with Edge, the look Del Rio had and his wrestling ability was superb. His departure from the WWE was a nasty one. What he went through with the social media employee from WWE didn’t give him a great lasting impression.

However, it’s been over a year since he left the company and both sides will get over it eventually. Bret Hart and the Ultimate Warrior are good examples of that. The other name in that report is Rey Mysterio. Unlike Del Rio, he left the WWE after not appearing on television after months of remaining healthy.

The former-World Heavyweight champion is doing well on the independent scene, but a return to the WWE would be a great way to end his wrestling career. WCW helped make Mysterio, but the WWE solidified his legacy in pro wrestling.

In an earlier report by What Culture, Rey Mysterio and the WWE are reportedly in talks to potentially come back to the company. There’s no guarantee that if he did return, he’d ascend to the main card right away. If anything, he’d help with younger guys like Neville, Kevin Owens, or Cesaro.
