Peta Murgatroyd has a medical emergency, which means the Dancing with the Stars popular professional dancer will have to miss the upcoming Season 21. And for Peta, her love of participating on DWTS makes Murgatroyd’s health crisis even worse, reported People.
“It was devastating news for me,” admitted Peta.
Murgatroyd revealed that her orthopedic surgeon informed her that she will have to stay on the sidelines for six to eight weeks following an essential surgical procedure.
The no-dance news followed Peta’s live Dancing with the Stars tour that lasted three months. And Murgatroyd was thrilled to start rehearsing with Andy Grammer, her celebrity partner for Season 21.
“Something was not right,” Peta recalled realizing one day.
So Murgatroyd, 29, had an MRI.
“It was a really bad diagnosis. It showed I had 4 torn ligaments and a floating piece of bone at the back of my ankle. My doctor said I needed surgery and I knew I needed to put my health first if I want to keep dancing on the show into my 30s.”
For Peta, she felt terrible both about exiting DWTS and informing Andy. Murgatroyd does anticipate helping Grammer’s new partner, however.
“He had specifically asked to be partnered with me and I felt like I was letting him down,” revealed Peta. “But he understood and has been a great guy about it.”
Instead of Murgatroyd, Allison Holker is Andy’s partner, reported Just Jared.
“The first thought I had when I found out ANDY GRAMMER was my partner was ‘ooh HONEY, I’M GOOD!!!'” laughed Allison.
But while fans of Murgatroyd are disappointed, some viewers of Dancing With The Stars are upset with the announcement that celebrity chef Paula Deen will appear on the show. TV Line termed the selection of the embattled celebrity chef to be disheartening.
Although some of the contestants are well-known, others are less familiar to viewers.
“The Season 21 cast is chock full of “celebrities” only identifiable with the help of Google (“What’s a ‘Vine star’ Hayes Grier?”) and/or names that require a Clorox Disinfecting Wipe every time they’re typed or verbalized (oh, hi there, Paula Deen!),” charged TV Line.
What exactly did Deen do to get that kind of scorching reaction? Some DWTS fans shared why they feel burned by her choice, reported Boston.com.
“Beyond livid at @DancingABC for choosing racist Paula Deen for #DWTS. I cannot believe my beloved Disney Corporation would make this choice,” posted Christina (@ChristinaRast).
“really Paula Deen on DTWS?? let’s celebrate a racist by putting her on a TV Reality show, awful,” tweeted Matt Tillinghast (@mattsetsfire).
Will some boycott Dancing with the Stars with its choice of Deen?
“#DWTS has cast RACIST Paula Deen showing AA’s what they really think of us…I’ve never been a real fan but I won’t watch again after this,” declared Charlie Peach (@PoliticsPeach).
