Drake wasn’t at Video Music Awards 2015. Many artists were there to take part in the ceremony. However, where was Drizzy? Possibly recuperating on the east coast?

Although the VMAs awards show was last night, Drake was elsewhere making his own videos — most recently, Fayetteville, North Carolina. Along with Jay-Z, Drizzy made an appearance at J. Cole’s Forest Hills Drive tour on its last night, according to MTV News.

The source notes that, during his east coast showcase, Drake performed “Know Yourself” and “Back to Back,” the diss track aimed at Nicki Minaj’s boyfriend, Meek Mill. As an interesting addition, Drizzy added a new verse prior to hyping the crowd with the heavily-acclaimed track.

During his performance, he gave J. Cole acknowledgement as his “brother.”

“Before I go any further, I just want to let you know this sh*t that we do, this music business, it’s tough man. It’s tough to meet good people, real people. I want to let you know something about this guy right here. This one of the realest, greatest, most genuinely talented motherf***ers I’ve ever met in my life. This my brother. ‘I want to be at your wedding one day. You understand what I’m saying? We family, Bro. You know that’.”

In another video, it’s witnessed that he also performed “Energy” and his verse from Fetty Wap’s “My Way.”

This part of his performance actually happened before the previously seen video. During the performance, Drake paused his music and gave J. Cole a form of “thank you” for his visits to Toronto. It was also reported by ABC-11 News.

“Listen, for all the times that you come to Toronto and bless my city, you know I had to come to Fayetteville and rock tonight!”

Drizzy has been quite busy the last few days. On August 28, 2015, Drake was in New Orleans to perform for Lil’ Wayne’s #LilWeezyAnaFest. While there has been controversy about his live-stream situation between Tidal and Apple, he still performed at the event. It just wasn’t a live showing.

As mentioned in a previous Inquisitr article, it was Drake’s manager who negotiated the stream’s cease before it started.

Regardless, Drake’s absence at the VMAs proved effective in his own endeavors. He wasn’t presented with any awards, so it would’ve been pointless, right? Maybe this was his logic as well. According to MTV’s nomination list for the award ceremony, Drake nor any of his collaborations were nominated for any of the categories.

What are your thoughts about that? Do you think any of Drake’s works should’ve made the cut? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments, below.
