Tom Hiddleston Was ‘The Best Choice’ To Play Hank Williams, But Will He Open Up About Elizabeth Olsen?

Tom Hiddleston had to work hard to make sure his portrayal of Hank Williams in the upcoming film I Saw the Light was spot on. In fact, director Marc Abraham recently told Entertainment Weekly that Hiddleston, despite being from the U.K., was the best choice to play the southern singer.

In order to prepare for the role of the iconic singer, Hiddleston worked closely with Grammy Award winning artist Rodney Crowell in order to tighten up his singing and guitar abilities. To accomplish this, Hiddleston moved in with Crowell and practiced every single day. Hiddleston became so proficient with his skills that he was able to play all the musical parts in the movie by himself.

“Every note, every line, everything is Tom,” Abraham stated. “He’s crazy talented. If you didn’t like him, you’d be jealous of him.”

Although it would be difficult to imitate William’s voice, Abraham went on to say that the goal was to portray William’s emotion and creativity.

“I knew that Tom Hiddleston or anyone was never going to sound exactly like Hank Williams,” he stated, adding that Hiddleston still did a superb job.

In the end, all of his hard work paid off, and Abraham was quick to defend his decision to cast Hiddleston for the part.

“When people ask me, ‘Why’d you get an Englishman?’ I say, ‘He’s the best actor I know to play the part,'” he explained. “Who’s the most famous southerner ever portrayed in the movies? Scarlett O’Hara. Who plays her? Vivien Leigh.”

Meanwhile, the film also stars Elizabeth Olsen as William’s wife. Although Tom Hiddleston and Olsen have kept things about their relationship quiet since being spotted together back in May, their roles in the film have ignited new rumors.

With that in mind, an inside source recently told Us Weekly that the pair’s relationship has heated up since filming for I Saw the Light.

“They have been hooking up,” the source revealed. “It’s casual. They made a connection on the set. Now they’re inseparable, and Elizabeth says she’s ready for marriage and a family!”

Although nothing official has been said concerning their relationship, it seems as though things between the stars are moving along quite nicely.

Meanwhile, according to Realty Today, Hiddleston is currently working on his upcoming movie, Crimson Peak. At the same time, the younger sibling of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen is in Atlanta for the production of Captain America: Civil War.
