Father Stephen Pohl: More Disturbing Details On Former Priest’s ‘Child Erotica’ Pics

Stephen Pohl, the disgraced priest formerly of the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky, has been charged with willfully accessing child pornography with intent to view.

The case first came to media attention last Thursday after Pohl resigned his post at the Church. He was arrested one day later in Indian Rocks, Florida, then turned over to U.S. Marshals on Monday.

As the investigation into the extent of Pohl’s alleged crimes continues, police are releasing disturbing details regarding what they’ve found on the former priest’s computer so far.

Apparently, Stephen Pohl was to take a group photo for the St. Margaret Mary school Facebook page. He took that photo, which he turned in to the communications director, but he also took numerous others for himself.

One of those involved a 10-year-old boy, who told his parents afterward that the photos made him feel “weird.”

A chance encounter with Pohl in a store led to the boy’s father demanding that he get to see the priest’s cell phone.

The father told authorities that Pohl was “shaking like a leaf” as he handed over the phone. It was at this point that the father found what he deemed to be inappropriate photos of his son and other children on the phone.

A search of the computers at the priest’s home and office turned up images of child pornography. Previous instances were deemed to be “child erotica,” or imagery that “could sexually arouse,” but are not technically porn, notes Opposing Views.

WLKY reports that the 10-year-old boy, whose father brought the photos to the attention of police, was photographed “with his legs spread.”

Officers said that in one of the photographs, one could “clearly see up the child’s shorts and underwear.”

What’s worse, this child was not the only one that Stephen Pohl allegedly took for one-on-one pictures, and many parents are now trying to figure out if their children were involved and to what extent.

“That’s probably the hardest part right now, the waiting and the wondering,” said parent Mary Hall in comments to the news station. “Had he taken their picture that they’re aware of, had they been touched or anything like that?”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only high-profile case of child pornography to come to national attention of late. Former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle has been accused of heavy involvement and having sex with underage kids. Recorded conversations with the pitchman also allege that he referred to middle schoolers as “so hot.”

Do you think people like Fogle and Stephen Pohl need psychological help or punishment? Sound off in the comments section.
