Evangeline Lilly may be playing Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as she recently revealed on Facebook. However, she also revealed a particularly interesting complication.

In the Marvel comics, Ant-Man and Wasp were not just a duo, but also a married couple. This was reflected in the backstory for the recent Marvel film. Despite the origin of Ultron having been changed for Ant-Man’s absence in the second Avengers film, the character’s own film stayed surprisingly faithful.

The film explains how Ant-Man and Wasp had gone on a secret government mission to stop a missile from detonating and creating an even bigger problem during the Cold War. However, they couldn’t get into the casing without risking an effect which would trap the suit’s user in a state of being perpetually shrunk.

The original Wasp had taken that chance, and unlike Ant-Man’s successor, she hadn’t come back. When professional thief Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) took his place and was forced to take the same chance, he’d found a way to come back. Sadly, the original Wasp was still lost, and Pym’s (Michael Douglas) daughter was teased at the end as having inherited her mother’s suit.

This teaser has fueled speculation that Evangeline Lilly‘s Wasp may be added to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe in Phase Three. On Facebook, it was revealed that she’d been scanned to fit the suit. However, the actress had gotten pregnant since the scanning and might not fit any more.

The reveal came after a fan had asked Evangeline if she was going to play Wasp and fight her mother in an upcoming film, much like in the comics.

If Lilly is set to play Marvel’s Wasp in the upcoming films, she may need to be re-fitted or put on an diet. Otherwise, Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp could be recast and shrunk to another cameo alongside Ant-Man.

What do you think about the future of Marvel’s Wasp?
